I thought my eyes were deceiving me when I saw Yaya Toure in a Tottenham tracksuit at the training ground on Wednesday.

But we checked with the club and it’s our understanding that the club are helping him with his coaching badges, so he will be at the Spurs Academy for a few days this week.

Spurs coach Chris Powell was showing Yaya around the complex.

Antonio Conte is thinking about using Steven Bergwijn as Tottenham’s back-up striker as they prepare for 10 games in 30 days.

With Harry Kane’s fitness being a worry, the Tottenham manager is open to using the Dutch international as a striker instead of Son Heung-min.

“In the past I have seen that Son played number nine. Honestly, I prefer Son to play as a number 10 in the position that he is now playing," said Conte.

"Steven could be a good option on the day that I want to give a rest to Harry.”

Bergwijn, who starts on the bench tonight, has failed to get going after his move from PSV Eindhoven in January 2020 and he has been linked with a move to Ajax in January.

The Italian said he will make a decision on his future: “He is a player I have to make an important evaluation of, but he is in our squad and I count on him. He’s ready and available."

  6. Team news - Ronaldo and Maguire startpublished at 19:15 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2021

Man Utd v Arsenal (20:15 GMT)

Manchester United make three changes from the side that drew 1-1 at Chelsea. One of them sees Cristiano Ronaldo return in an attacking move that sees Nemanja Matic drop out of the matchday squad.

Harry Maguire is available again to return after suspension and takes the place of Eric Bailly in the centre of defence. Aaron Wan-Bissaka is absent, so Diogo Dalot starts at right-back.

Man Utd: de Gea, Dalot, Lindelof, Maguire, Alex Telles, McTominay, Fred, Sancho, Bruno Fernandes, Rashford, Ronaldo.

Subs: Bailly, Jones, Mata, Martial, Greenwood, Lingard, Diallo, Henderson, van de Beek.

Arsenal make two changes. Gabriel Martinelli starts in place of Bukayo Saka in attack, while Mohamed Elneny comes into midfield for Albert Sambi Lokonga.

Both of the players replaced in the XI that beat Newcastle at the weekend are on the bench.

Arsenal: Ramsdale, Tomiyasu, White, Gabriel, Tavares, Martinelli, Thomas, Elneny, Smith-Rowe, Odegaard, Aubameyang.

Subs: Tierney, Saka, Lacazette, Maitland-Niles, Holding, Pepe, Sambi Lokonga, Nketiah, Okonkwo.

It's 17 years since Pizzagate - also known as the "Battle of the Buffet" - broke out in the Old Trafford tunnel involving players and officials from Manchester United and Arsenal.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson was struck by a slice of pizza thrown by an Arsenal player following the home side's 2-0 win in October 2004, a result that ended the Gunners' 49-match unbeaten run.

The clubs have met 33 times in the Premier League since with United winning 14 times, Arsenal nine, with 10 meetings ending in a draw.

I was impressed by Brentford in their win over Everton. I always thought they would win enough games to stay in the Premier League and that is becoming evident.

I am going with a Tottenham home win here, though. Their game at Burnley on Sunday was snowed off and that just means Antonio Conte will get even more time with his players.

I just picture him constantly working with them tactically, as well as on their fitness, and I think his good start at Spurs will continue here.

    Lawro's prediction: 2-0

After snow forced their game at Burnley to be called off last Sunday, Tottenham are back in Premier League action for the first time since 21 November.

Since then they have suffered an embarrassing 2-1 defeat against minnows NS Mura in the Europa Conference League - a result that left boss Antonio Conte angry.

"This is a big challenge for me," responded the Italian when asked on Wednesday about the job he faces at Spurs.

"The club, in the last years, has been slipping.

"I understand that sometimes the fans lose their patience but I repeat I am here to put myself totally for Tottenham and to work 24 hours for this club."
