    Tottenham 1-0 Brentford

The tackles are flying and Brentford are suddenly knocking on the door.

Ivan Toney forces Hugo Lloris into a rare save after a lay-off by Vitaly Janelt.

Loads of time for Brentford to get back into this.

    Rob Green

Ronaldo has been poor so far. He has not done much to worry this Arsenal defence. But he is Ronaldo. He can do what he does.

United want a penalty. Well their fans do. Martin Atkinson says no.

Ben White tackles Bruno Fernandes and wins the ball.

  5. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 20:47 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2021

    Tottenham 1-0 Brentford

Not far from the hour mark and Thomas Frank makes his first change with Frank Onyeka replaced by Shandon Baptiste.

    It's a like-for-like change in midfield.

Will that change things? Spurs are pretty much in control but they could do with a second goal.

  6. Postpublished at 20:47 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2021

    Man Utd 0-1 Arsenal

Cristiano Ronaldo tries a one-two with Bruno Fernandes but doesn't make a run for the return ball and it runs out. No comment.

  7. Postpublished at 20:45 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2021

    Man Utd 0-1 Arsenal

United captain Harry Maguire hammers in a shot from long range but it sails over the bar. Was never going to score that.

  8. Postpublished at 20:43 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2021

    Man Utd 0-1 Arsenal

United have a corner. Alex Telles takes, a ball is headed towards goal and Aaron Ramsdale tips it over his bar.

Telles takes the following corner but it's clear.

    Tottenham 1-0 Brentford

    Glenn Murray
Former Brighton striker on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

It is not the Harry Kane that we're used to but he's got 14 goals this season for Spurs and England - that is still good.

    And another Spurs chance.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg lashes it into the side-netting when surely the better option was to pass to an unmarked Son Heung-min.

High energy from Antonio Conte's side.

Tommy T-Rex: You wouldn't stop the game if that was an outfield player. He was taken down by his own player and not even injured. Great goal. Finally getting a decision at Old Trafford.

Adam Leatherbarrow: Poor refereeing there. He can see De Gea is down (replay shows he's looking the goal) yet doesn't blow up, despite putting the whistle to his mouth. He could see the keeper was down, went to blow and changed his mind, leading to the goal.

Arsenal are into the Champions League places as things stand.

  13. CLOSE!published at 20:40 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2021

    Tottenham 1-0 Brentford

Big, big chance for Harry Kane.

He's inside the box and has sight of goal but Alvaro Fernandez does ever so well to make the save.

Then Ben Davies heads towards the net only for the Brentford keeper to make another save.

Fernandez is keeping Brentford in this.

Paolo di Canio, then at West Ham, once grabbed the ball instead of shooting when the Everton goalkeeper was down injured.

I've always suspected Di Canio knew he wasn't going to score from where he was so wanted to look good...

DSSBrooks: It’s the right decision. I don’t know what Fred is complaining about, he injured De Gea.

Not THAT Mr. T: Don't tell me Smith Rowe didn't know De Gea was down....he was desperate to get that shot off!! Paolo Di Canio he ain'T

Kit Beaupre: Arsenal are a disgrace. No class at all

Moose and G: I blame De Gea completely for that. What goalkeeper in the history of professional football goes down like that, turns his back completely on play when he’s clearly fine. That was utterly embarrassing, he got what he deserved and he shouldn’t play in the next game

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

Fourth official Craig Pawson was dealing with both benches during that VAR check.

The crucial aspect was that referee Martin Atkinson did not blow his whistle before the ball entered the net.

As the game was continuing, it had to be a goal because there was no foul.

I am guessing Manchester United think Atkinson should have blown as soon as he saw De Gea down with his back to play.

This is about as entertaining as your average Europa League group game. There's something about playing on Thursdays.

    Man Utd 0-1 Arsenal

United have conceded nine consecutive Premier League goals at Old Trafford without scoring themselves, their longest home league run of goals conceded without reply since November 1961.
