Christian Pulisic chops in and out to try and squeeze a cross in but Kostas Tsimikas sticks with him to concede a corner.

Fabinho plays a lovely ball over to Diogo Jota. The angle is tight but he volleys it towards goal and Edouard Mendy makes a pretty decent diving save! The flag goes up for offside but that was marginal. He might have been on.

Watching the game with my wife who's in the early stages of labour, not sure what I'm more nervous about. Have asked to name the boy Mateo if we win this...

Caoimhin Kelleher is too cool as he tries to play out from the back, giving it to Fabinho in an awkward position.

Fabinho is too slow on the ball too and only just gets away from two Chelsea players.

    Cheeks out moment.

Gee Em: The question is can Chelsea get better? Liverpool look like there is plenty of room for improvement but will it happen? Liverpool look like they are playing the early Klopp style of wild times. Great to watch, heart troubles all over England I'm sure.

Milner has been in football long enough to know not to give away such a stupid foul. Needlessly barging Havertz off the ball so close to half time set all that madness in motion. Changed the game completely!

    FT: Brentford 2-1 Aston Villa

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: “It’s my job to change things. That’s five goals we’ve conceded in the last two games, which isn’t good enough.

“The front three performed well enough for us today, we just didn’t get the second goal. I thought Emi [Martinez]’s performance was really strong today. No way should we have lost this game with the performance we gave, but if you concede the goals that we did, it costs you.

“We need more grit and need to be tough to play against. We need teams to know it’s not going to be easy to score or play against us. We’ve come away with nothing because we haven’t defended three situations well enough.

“We had enough here today and we showed that in our performance. We had enough quality to go and hurt Brentford.”

    FT: Brentford 2-1 Aston Villa

    Brentford

Brentford manager Thomas Frank, speaking to Sky Sports: “It was a bad performance from us in the first half. It was a bad game in the first half.

“At 1-1 it’s important to stay in the game and keep our discipline. We know we can create. Villa didn’t create an awful lot after we made it 2-1.

“It shouldn’t be possible that we’re above Villa with the amount of money they’ve spent on their squad in the last two or three years. I think they’re a good club, so the fact that we’re above them is quite good.

“It was a game that quite easily and maybe should have been a draw, but a game that we saw out in the end.”

On Mads Roerslev: “It’s a good story but a very good Brentford story. He’s suddenly made four or five Premier League starts. He deserves all the praise.”

I don’t even know how there’s another 45 minutes. I think that was the best half I’ve seen this season. All the goals have been sensational.

There have been a lot of turning points. Chelsea could have gone 1-0 up but missed the chance through Pulisic. They’re right back in it now.

Chris: What an utterly wonderful and bonkers half of football that was. Great goals, bits of controversy, tackles flying in & compulsive viewing - Premier League at its very best.
