Plenty of you are asking why Edinson Cavani wasn't offside for Marcus Rashford's winner against West Ham.

Well, the Premier League have provided the evidence and here it is.

It was a huge win. Newcastle were well in the game. Leeds are desperately lacking a centre forward.

But Newcastle had to dig deep and I thought they deserved it in the end, particularly in the second half.

They had to show team spirit. Some of the performances over the last six months have been unacceptable.

Hoping confidence wise it will be huge.

I thought it was a really good together performance.

It’s not just about coming up against Man City, it’s about coming up against them in the form they are in.

They don’t just have one way of playing.

They can walk the ball in, finish from three or four yards, they can shoot from distance, they’ve got centre-halves scoring on a regular basis. Goals are coming from everywhere.

Goalscorer Marcus Rashford speaking to Match of the Day: "It is obviously an important goal and such late on is an amazing feeling. We have to use that winning feeling. We could have been a bit better on the ball but managed to get the goal we needed and can use that as motivation now.

"When there are two teams so close together in the table, both are fighting to be in front of one another and today we managed to get there. We are sitting fourth now, some teams have games to play, but it is nice to be in that position.

"The wins are what's important, when you get wins, consecutive wins, you can really start to go on a run and that is what gives everyone confidence.

"We have had a difficult week, there have been many games in one week, so the break is needed. It'll be good for us."

Nelson Semedo hooks away a ball into the box as Brentford attack. The ball is sent back in and knocked behind for a Brentford corner, which is cleared.

Wolves are in possession as they try to see this out. Not long left to go.

The Newcastle fans are still making themselves heard inside Elland Road and as well they might.

It's been a tough season for them, and for much of that they have had little to cheer. This feels like it could be transformative to the club's future.

Joao Moutinho is given a look over from the medical staff. That was a proper whack in the face from Norgaard. He should be okay to carry on.

Dr David: People criticising Rangnick but he has come in and the back line has been shored up. Not great to watch but another clean sheet.

Aleksander Pagels: As a United fan I thought Cavani was off-side but then I remembered how we were nearly robbed by the officials against West Ham in September so I really couldn't care less.

Dara Sheahan: Finally playing like the Man Utd of old!! (Unfortunately, it's like the Man Utd of Louis Van Gaal, but hey, a win's a win!)

Christian Norgaard comes crunching into Joao Moutinho while the ball is up in the air and he's in the book now.

Brentford look for an immediate response. Ethan Pinnock launches a long throw into the box. It's flicked on, half-cleared, then Toti heads it away at the back post.

Pinnock has another throw-in but the eventual shot from Marcus Forss is comfortable for Jose Sa.

Marcus Forss is on for substitute Shandon Baptiste.

"I knew I had to go across goal. I think the keeper gave it a bit of help but a goal is a goal and I'll take it.

"This is a difficult place to come and play football because Leeds are constantly on the move but everyone battled for the shirt.

"We have been working to see games out, we know we can create chances and score goals so it was just about seeing games out."
