Manchester City are keeping up the hunt for a fourth as Bernardo Silva curls the ball into the box. However, usually he is the one waiting in the middle so there's no blues shirts waiting for his delivery.

That [the third goal] looked too easy to me. I'm not sure how the wall was lined up, but that looked really easy.

The goalkeeper was guarding the other side of the goal. Looking at it from this angle, the wall doesn't look set up properly.

  9. MISSED PENALTYpublished at 21:19 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2022

    Swindon 0-3 Man City

But Gabriel Jesus spot kick is saved by Lewis Ward!

It is a stuttered run up by Jesus but Ward guesses the right way and makes the save. The Swindon goalkeeper needed that.

Graeme Beedham: I thought my Swindon might have stood a chance tonight when I heard about Man City's troubles with COVID but then I check the team sheet and it's a line-up that could win the Champions league!! Rolling my eyes at all these teams "woes".

GOAL - Swindon 0-3 Man Citypublished at 59 mins

    Ilkay Gundogan

    Lovely free kick!

Kevin de Bruyne is brought down some 25 yards from goal and Ilkay Gundogan steps up to take the free kick, bending it round the wall and just inside the post.

Hang on, just seeing the angle from behind the goal and I think Swindon could have done better with the positioning of the wall there. Still, a fine finish by Gundogan.

    Swindon 0-2 Man City

A nice move by Manchester City sees Joao Cancelo surging into the box but Dion Conroy is alert to the danger and gets across to thump clear.

  14. Postpublished at 53 mins

    Swindon 0-2 Man City

A decent free kick into the box by Swindon is confidently claimed by Zack Steffen as the hosts attack for the first time in this half.

Cole Palmer then has a pop from distance. It dips at the last minute, just not quite enough but it took a deflection on its way towards goal and Manchester City have a corner, which comes to nothing.

  15. Postpublished at 51 mins

    Swindon 0-2 Man City

Bernardo Silva is well offside as the ball is chested through to him by Ilkay Gundogan.

Still, Manchester City have picked up from where they left off in the first half.

  16. Postpublished at 48 mins

    Swindon 0-2 Man City

Kyle Walker, under pressure, shoots from distance but Ben Gladwin does enough to put him off so that his shot is well wide.

  17. Postpublished at 47 mins

    Swindon 0-2 Man City

An early attack by Manchester City as Cole Palmer picks the ball up on the overlap from Kevin de Bruyne and crosses deep for Gabriel Jesus but his cushioned header back into the middle of the box is cleared.

  18. KICK-OFFpublished at 46 mins

    Swindon 0-2 Man City

The second half is under way.

Nothing to lose as far as Swindon are concerned and that could make things interesting...

... or Manchester City could go on and bag a hatful as they are inclined to do.
