Hello darkness, my old friend, I've come to talk with you againBecause a vision softly creeping... You know where I am going.

So while fans across England roar their sides in the FA Cup, we are back to eerie silence here in Wales with no fans permitted at the Cardiff City Stadium.

It's dispiriting, like an unwelcome step back in time.

And the vision that was planted in my brain... Still remains.

It was one of those moments where he took the eye off your ball. I don't often take sides but I was willing that not to go in.

They've survived but it's only 1 minute 30 seconds in.

    Tottenham v Morecambe (14:00)

Morecambe manager and former Spurs player Steve Robinson won't be at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this afternoon after a positive Covid test.

But before the sad news for the boss, he told BBC Radio 5 Live it was the dream draw for him.

"It'll be a wee trip up memory lane," he said. "As a club to get a draw from Spurs, you either want a low club to go through or a top club for the occasion."

  11. 'We want to cause the ultimate upset'published at 13:55 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2022

    Charlton v Norwich (14:00 GMT)

Johnnie Jackson has come out with fighting talk ahead of his club Charlton taking on Premier League side Norwich.

He is taking inspiration from Cambridge's win over Newcastle and he cannot wait for kick-off.

"Excitement is the main one," he told 5 Live. "Representing League One and the goal is to cause the ultimate upset.

"It does get you thinking what is possible [the Cambridge win]. If we turn up as good as we can and Norwich are a little off it levels the playing field.

"We've got nothing to lose. We're the underdogs. Give everything and see where it takes you."

Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has just been speaking to ITV on Patrick Bamford's absence today.

Teenager Sam Greenwood starts up front for the visitors at London Stadium.

  14. Cardiff's sorry recent FA Cup recordpublished at 13:51 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2022

    Cardiff v Preston (14:00 GMT)

    Michael Pearlman
BBC Sport Wales at the Cardiff City Stadium

Cardiff City were FA Cup finalists in 2008, but they have hardly lit the competition up since, to say the least.

Cardiff have only got past the fourth round once in the past 11-years and they have been knocked out seven times since they reached Wembley in 2008.

The Bluebirds have also not won a home tie in the FA Cup since 2015, drawing with Carlisle and Mansfield and losing to Fulham, Shrewsbury, Man City and Reading (twice) since then.

They don't have any home fans to disappoint today, with football returning to being behind-closed-doors in Wales.

  15. 'It feels like going back home'published at 13:50 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2022

    Tottenham v Morecambe (14:00 GMT)

Jonathan Obika has a unique experience this afternoon, if he comes off the bench, as he will play against former club Tottenham. He left the club in 2014 and now plays for Morecambe who will look to upset the Premier League side.

While many may think it might be strange to go back to the club, Obika feels a comfort in returning to Spurs.

"It feels like going back home," he told BBC Radio 5 Live. "I spent most of my childhood in Spurs. Everything Harry Redknapp said he ended with a joke so you felt more relaxed. I never felt any pressure with Harry.

"I've heard a lot of good things about Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Many people say it takes your breath away."

One point off the Champions League places in the Premier League and safely through to the Europa League last-16.

Things are looking pretty good for West Ham this season.

Leeds United stand in their way in the FA Cup, with Marcelo Bielsa's side 11 places and 15 points behind the Hammers in the table.

A concerning statistic for West Ham is that they have only won one of their past 19 FA Cup ties against fellow Premier League sides - though they have beaten Leeds in their last three meetings.

  18. 'Why not go all out for the FA Cup?'published at 13:46 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2022

Charlton Athletic v Norwich (14:00 GMT)

    Dean SmithImage source, Getty Images

Norwich City boss Dean Smith is hoping an FA Cup run can help the Canaries in their bid for Premier League survival, as their cup campaign begins at League One Charlton Athletic.

Norwich are bottom of the Premier League and three points from safety at the halfway stage of their season.

"Going on a cup run can give any team a boost. I like the FA Cup. Why not go all out to try and achieve something?" Smith said.

"We have been forced to play three games with a minimal squad, but it is nice to have players back and build that confidence that we had when we first came in. We have got plenty of options and will do what is best for the team."

  20. Leeds look to halt FA Cup losing streakpublished at 13:43 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2022

West Ham v Leeds (14:00 GMT)

West Ham and Leeds United are set for their first FA Cup meeting since 1930 in an exciting all-Premier League encounter at London Stadium.

Leeds have lost their last five games in the FA Cup - their worst run in the competition since 1961 - but manager Marcelo Bielsa sees it as an "opportunity" for his team.

"We always try to win in every official game we have," Bielsa says.

"There is never a need for added motivation. Every time the group plays, the desire is always the maximum to win."
