    Luton boss Nathan Jones has spoken highly about his returning assistant and Hatters legend Mick Harford.

    He is back in the dugout after treatment for cancer and he received a warm welcome before kick-off.

    Jones told BBC Radio 5 Live: "He usually puts others before himself. He had to put himself first and he left a big hole.

    "It was like he was never gone [when he returned]. We're really proud of him, he has done so much for this club.

    "As a player he was a legend, as a manager he had some good and bad times. It shows how valuable he is to us, we are proud to have him.

    "He shows strength and humility every day. That was long winded but it's difficult to say a few words about him."

    No goals yet in the early kick-off but Luton Town assistant boss Mick Harford has been talking about his return to the dugout after cancer treatment.

    "I still have to carry on with my appointments at the hospital, but it's great to come back into such a positive, bubbly environment," he says.

    "It makes me feel a lot better, and I feel really positive about moving forward.

    "It takes your mind off things and you can get stuck into your work here. I can just be focused on the football.

    "The support I've had from supporters, the club, the board, the management, staff and players has been unbelievable, and really helped me through. I can't thank them enough."

    BREAKING NEWS from Anfield: Jurgen Klopp is back in the dugout.

    He missed last weekend's game at Chelsea after testing positive for Covid-19 but is back to take charge of the tie against Shrewsbury.

    In his programme notes for today's game - written a few days ago - Klopp says: "This is one of the strangest programme columns I have ever written, because I have no idea if I will be in the stadium with you, leading my team in person – or watching from home.

    "What I can say is that I’m doing OK and looking forward to getting back to work."

    The first of today's nine ties - Championship side Luton against League Two Harrogate - is about 10 minutes away.

    There will be emotional scenes at Kenilworth Road as assistant manager and Hatters legend Mick Harford returns to the dugout return following prostate cancer treatment.

    Staff at Luton raised more than £27,000 to help towards the cost of his cancer treatment and he has now been given the all-clear to resume his day-to-day role.
