    Man City 1-1 Spurs

Kevin de Bruyne is on the right putting in a cross now. It's half-cleared to Joao Cancelo, who shoots just wide. It takes a huge deflection off Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg but the referee doesn't see it and says goal-kick.

    Ilkay Gundogan

    City are level.

Raheem Sterling whips in a cross from the left which Hugo Lloris - under a little bit (but not too much) pressure from Kevin de Bruyne - spills it to captain Ilkay Gundogan, who makes no mistake.

    Poor keeping.

  3. Walker v Son - the sprint battlepublished at 18:01 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2022

    Man City 0-1 Tottenham

    Chris Bevan
    BBC Sport at Etihad Stadium

City are completely dominating possession and territory and creating chances too, but Tottenham remain a huge threat whenever and wherever they get hold of the ball because of their blistering pace on the break.

Kyle Walker versus Son Heung-min is the key battle here, as is Son versus the offside flag. With all of City's outfield players in the visitors' half, it feels like Spurs are only ever one good ball away from going 2-0 up.

    Man City 0-1 Spurs

Ilkay Gundogan tries an almost standing scorpion kick which goes wide but he also kicked Cristian Romero in the head so it's a free out.

    Man City 0-1 Spurs

Title race would be well and truly on if City don't win this, right? Just six points in it (and City would have played an extra game).

Professor Ndebele: If Cancelo can make wise decisions he could be one of the greatest ever to play in the Premier Leager.

Dan Tinkler: Is 20 minutes in too early to start pacing room as we weather a City onslaught?

    Man City 0-1 Spurs

Spurs are certainly exploiting the space in behind City's high defensive line. Son Heung-min is almost in again.

  8. Postpublished at 25 mins

    Man City 0-1 Spurs

Emerson Royal charges forward for Spurs - he's in miles of space on halfway - and he hammers a shot over the bar from outside the box. He probably should have found a runner.

    Man City 0-1 Spurs

City are playing a lot of ball down the left. Raheem Sterling picks out Phil Foden, whose shot is blocked. Kevin de Bruyne then whips in a cross from the same side but it's through to Hugo Lloris.

  10. Postpublished at 24 mins

    Man City 0-1 Spurs

Son Heung-min is almost in but he just can't take Harry Kane's through ball in his stride.

A bit more pace on that ball - City were open at the back - and Son was one on one.

  11. Postpublished at 22 mins

    Man City 0-1 Spurs

Joao Cancelo is central now and hammers a shot wide from 20 yards. Imagine how different he is to most Manchester City left-backs of the past.

  12. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 21 mins

    Man City 0-1 Spurs

They're getting closer. Raheem Sterling pokes it to Ilkay Gundogan, who steps past Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and curls the ball off the far post.

    Man City 0-1 Spurs

Pretty much everyone in this game has already had more touches than Romelu Lukaku (seven) managed in 90 minutes today.

Raheem Sterling finds Joao Cancelo but the City full-back is offside and his ball is blocked anyway.

  15. Spurs soaking up the pressurepublished at 17:47 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2022

    Man City 0-1 Tottenham

    Chris Bevan

It is only 14 days since City last fell behind at home, and they recovered to beat Fulham 4-1 in the FA Cup... so I don't think anyone at Etihad Stadium is pressing the panic button just yet.

Still, lots to think about for Pep Guardiola and, if there is a button for improving his side's passing in the final third, then the City boss should press that instead, because it has been uncharacteristically sloppy so far.

As you'd expect from an Antonio Conte team, Tottenham are defending deep and in numbers, looking to soak up the home side's pressure. It is working well so far... and we already know how dangerous Spurs are on the break.

    Man City 0-1 Spurs

Lovely play by City left-back Joao Cancelo to cut inside Eric Dier and then leave Emerson Royal on the ground but he curls his shot wide of the far post.

    Man City 0-1 Spurs

Chance for Spurs to break - there's been plenty of those lately - but Harry Kane doesn't have the pace to beat Aymeric Laporte and ends up fouling the City defender.

Corner to City now as Cristian Romero blocks Ilkay Gundogan's cross.

The corner is half-cleared and Bernardo Silva has a shot blocked.

There was a time when Son would have taken a shot himself. How he has matured as a player. Worth more than Kane, in my view.

Tottenham look much better away from home where their fans aren't booing them.
