20 minutes gone and the game's best chances have fallen Brentford's way, a mixture of poor finishing and David de Gea keeping the scoreline goalless.

What on earth has happened to Leicester's midfield?! They seem to have gone M.I.A.

To Doctor David. Have hope. Tottenham have shown under Conte that even with an uncompetitive squad there is a future. Liverpool got mauled in a wonderful draw recently. COYS.

BBC Sport chief football writer at Brentford Community Stadium

Manchester United had enjoyed a period of possession but it is Brentford with the threat and once again David de Gea came to the rescue of Ralf Rangnick's side. United look very uneasy back there and both Brentford and their supporters can sense it.

    How have they not scored??

Another gilt-edged opportunity for Brentford as Mads Bech Sorensen spins in the box but a low rasping drive deflects off Bruno Fernandes and into the side-netting.

It’s poor from Jannik Vestergaard, he gives the ball away under no pressure.

It’s superb from Harry Kane, he has been brilliant tonight – back to his best.

He could be going in at half-time with a hat-trick because he looks really sharp and Leicester’s back line cannot handle him at the moment.

    Leicester 1-1 Tottenham

    Spurs almost catch Leicester out.

Harry Kane is found by Pierre Emile Hojbjerg on halfway and is allowed to turn. He threads a pass down the right for Oliver Skipp, who shows a turn of pace to get away from his marker before pulling the ball back.

Lucas Moura fancies it, but sees the ball whipped off his toe by a backtracking and alert opponent.

  8. CLOSE!published at 20:14 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2022

    Brentford 0-0 Man Utd

Brentford wondering how they have not scored, two BIG chances fall their way.

Firstly Mathias Jensen has acres of space down the centre of the box but a low shot is superbly kept out by David de Gea's long legs.

From the follow up, Vitaly Janelt's shot from close range is blocked by Alex Telles.

    Leicester 1-1 Tottenham

Only Alan Shearer at Leeds (10) has scored more away Premier League goals against a single opponent than Harry Kane against Leicester (9).

No wonder the home fans enjoyed that three-pointer over the bar earlier.

Harry Kane goes for something more optimistic this time, firing a low angled shot from range that is easy for Kasper Schmeichel.

    Shocking miss!

Harry Kane is away again, charging in behind the Foxes defence to collect Lucas Moura's superb pass.

He has just Kasper Schmeichel to beat. A pause, a breath, an absolute punt over the bar and into the stand!

Brentford have started the game really well.

They’ve really been in Manchester United’s face and given them no time on the ball whatsoever.

Harry has scored his 250th goal in club competitions, 10 years and 362 days since he scored his first for Leyton Orient. His latest was his 18th against Leicester and his 15th past Kasper Schmeichel at club level, both personal highs for opponents and goalkeepers.

Jonas Lossl is not filling his defence with any confidence in the opening stages here.

He tries to nick the ball away from a team-mates head but ends up dropping it and Cristiano Ronaldo nearly has an easy finish but the hosts are able to clear in the nick of time.

It is always Harry Kane against Leicester!

The Spurs striker beats the offside trap to charge into the box before cutting inside Caglar Soyuncu and finding the net off the far post.

Foxes players and fans wait for VAR to check the offside, hoping, praying. Salvation does not come.
