    Burnley 0-1 Chelsea

    Michael Brown
Former Manchester City midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

It was all about the skill and fast feet of Reece James. He got a little bit of space to get his shot away. I thought he was going to go left-footed, he doesn't. Right-footed across Nick Pope. He gave him no chance. Brilliant and clinical.

  2. 'Good news for England'published at 16:11 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2022

    Burnley 0-1 Chelsea

    Martin Keown
Former England defender on Final Score

Reece James has been missed when he’s been out, but he looked fully fit there after his hamstring injury.

That’s good news for England looking ahead - surely James has been our best right-back this season ahead of Walker?

    Philippe Coutinho (52 mins)

This game is certainly all over now. John McGinn cuts a ball into the box and a Saints player can't properly clear it. Philippe Coutinho hammers the ball through a crowd including through Fraser Forster's legs.

It's given. Brentford have a spot-kick. Ben Gibson tried to clear a cross but kicked Pontus Jansson's head instead.

Delay at Molineux due to a technical issue with one of the officials. That's not improved the mood of the home fans. The second-half is yet to start.

James Blake: Looks like we [Brighton] have got a big Dan Burn sized hole in the Albion defence at the moment. We’ve been filthy since he left.

Kev McVeigh: This is Chelsea's 45th game of the season. Burnley are on their 30th. Must make a difference.

You only have to look at West Brom's current plight to know what the Toon's resurgence is all about. Take a bow Eddie Howe for making the sensible and sometimes simple decisions we have been missing for years, and for doing it with the dignity and responsibility your predecessor lacked.

    Rob, Oadby

Appreciate Howe is flavour of the month but it's a bit unfair to say he's made Willock a better player considering he scored all those goals under Bruce last season.

    Dan, Alnwick

Is Dan Burn English? Asking for my friend.

Gabe: Investment doesn’t explain today. Trippier injured, Guimares on the bench and Chris Wood, well… more impressive is the way Howe has rejuvenated Fraser and Willock, not to mention bringing Schar, a CB who can carry the ball and pass, back into the starting 11.

Mahesh: No one complained when Newcastle's previous owner did not spend season after season and every one else did. And now they are mad at them for catching up?

Bradley Sparkes: To the people claiming Newcastle’s turnaround is down to spending £90m… have you even watched us play? Results are largely down to a midfield of Joelinton, Fraser, Willock and Shelvey. Burn and Targett have been fantastic additions at minimal cost as well.

  18. 18 points from eight games?published at 15:56 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2022

    HT: Newcastle 2-0 Brighton

Brighton have had more possession (65%) and completed more accurate passes (229-98) yet face a huge test to get back into this.

The Magpies are on their way to making it 18 points from eight games. Incredible.

    HT: Burnley 0-0 Chelsea

    Michael Brown
Former Manchester City midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Burnley will be so disappointed that they haven't taken the lead in this first half.

It's been a great performance. They have been structured, patient, they have waited as Chelsea moved it around and limited their space.

But they have got to score. It would give them such a boost if they could get out of the bottom three.

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on Final Score

It looks like Philippe Coutinho is just onside. Once he makes that run, you wonder whether he’s going to try and hit it. But he passes it for Douglas Luiz for one of the easiest goals he’s going to score.

That’s the effect Coutinho’s having on this Aston Villa team.
