James Tarkowski again! He's having a blinder today and produces another piece of crucial defending as Bryan Mbeumo tries to race clear but Tarkowski forces him wide.

Brilliant defending.

James Tarkowski AKA the Burnley defence, gets in the way of another shot and it deflects behind for a Brentford corner.

Christian Eriksen sends the ball in but Maxwel Cornet heads away.

James Tarkowski heads away a cross and then gets in the way of Christian Noergaard's driven shot.

Anything decent on TV tonight?

Bryan Mbeumo bursts down the right and cuts the ball back into the box but it is behind Christian Eriksen.

The hosts keep the attack live before Sergi Canos plants a cross straight into Nick Pope's gloves.

Only three games today so the Match of the Day director is going to have their work cut out to drag out some decent length highlights from this game.

James Tarkowski has been brilliant for Burnley today to snuffle out any hint of danger and he is in the right place to cut out Christian Eriksen's cross.

It’s a brilliant chance. It all stems from Brentford drawing Burnley out a little bit.

Burnley are playing quite a high line, and when you do that there’s space in behind.

I spoke too soon!

Brentford have a great chance to take the lead as Sergi Canos sends a quality ball into the box and Nick Pope half commits to trying to catch but hesitates and Vitaly Janelt rises to meet the cross but heads over.

Six minutes into the second half and not a lot has happened. I'm not holding out much hope for those signs of quality anytime soon.

Nice flick by Wout Weghorst and the ball is played into the box for Maxwel Cornet to chase but once again Nick Pope is quick off his line.

Let's hope there's quality in the second half.

There was a lot of waffle from Jurgen Klopp but then he said we could have scored more goals today.

There’s no question that goal difference might settle this title.

They won 2-0 away from home and the manager says they should have scored more goals. He is chasing them, they think they can catch Manchester City.

Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I like to watch Brighton a lot, I don't like playing against them because they are really good. We knew we could cause them problems as well; what I really like about Graham [Potter] and his team is you can really tell how they prepare for an opponent. We needed to get used to the way they started, but when we adapted, we controlled the game.

"We could have scored more; there were two or three chances where the last pass could have been slightly better. It was a good game against a good opponent."

On Luis Diaz:"He's a top player. We have no groups in this team but a couple of the boys speak Spanish and Portuguese, they've taken him under their wing. The boy has settled as quick as any player, and that is helpful."

Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton boss Graham Potter speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I thought we started the game really well. We were on the front foot, were positive and created opportunities. We lacked the last pass, but we had a good start. They scored with their first attack and that took the wind out of our sails. You can imagine that gave them a lift; we dug in for the remainder of the first half and started the second half okay.

"I can't fault the boys, they kept going throughout, created chances at the end as well, against a good team. Good team is an understatement, Liverpool are fantastic; you have to suffer at times, but the boys gave everything. We are disappointed with the result, but not the performances."

On referee decisions: "There was a feeling there were some borderline decisions; I'm not sure they went for us but I can't say that is why we lost."

On recent form: "It is not as simple as one problem. We played a top side today, against Manchester United were were down to 10 men after 48 minutes, it was a poor performance against Burnley, slightly better against Aston Villa, better against Newcastle. But this is the league we are in."

Once again Brentford try the long ball down the channels for Bryan Mbeumo to chase but Burnley appear to have reinforced that side of the pitch and clear.
