    Aston Villa 0-4 Tottenham

A rare error for Hugo Lloris with a poor clearance, it falls to substitute Leon Bailey, but he can't steer his shot on target and Lloris' clean sheet is still intact.

  2. Postpublished at 84 mins

    Aston Villa 0-4 Tottenham

Another hugely impressive performance from the on loan Dejan Kulusevski, with a goal and an assist, and he is off with a late appearance for Steven Bergwijn, who scored off the bench in the 5-1 win against Newcastle last time out.

  3. Postpublished at 82 mins

    Aston Villa 0-4 Tottenham

Ashley Young has only been on for seconds and gets a well deserved yellow card for an extremely cynical trip on Harry Kane.

The kind of challenge you might expect from a 36-year-old who doesn't have the legs anymore.

  4. Postpublished at 81 mins

    Aston Villa 0-4 Tottenham

This could be such an important victory for Tottenham - with their goal difference getting a very welcome boost. Spurs, in fourth, will be three points ahead of fifth-placed Arsenal, who have a game in hand.

However, maybe crucially, Spurs' goal difference is now going to be 10 goals better off than the Gunners'.

Nicholas Walker: Spurs were only able to attack after holding out during that first half. Nice to see a bit of grit about the team

Dennis: Spurs are coming for third. Chelsea be warned

Lee: It is absolutely incredible that no top team has ever publicly tried to sign Heung-min Son from Spurs. Easily one of the most consistent forwards in recent years.

  7. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 76 mins

The hat-trick hero Son Heung-min goes off, and looks sad to be taken off with all the fun he'd been having, with Lucas Moura the man coming on for Tottenham.

Andrew Priestley: That quick glance and execution of that flick-on header through ball from Harry Kane [for the third goal] was sublime.

Dennis Ethan: Where will Spurs be without Harry Kane? Everything to do with attacking has to go through Harry Kane. He is simply magnificent. Best playmaker in the World!

    Son Heung-min (hat-trick, 71 mins)

Aston Villa are falling apart. Son Heung-min, after two goals already, gets the ball on the right touchline he plays it to Dejan Kulusevski and he gets into the box.

With the Villa players looking tired, they fail to track Son's run and Kulusevski plays it back to Son, who grabs his third with his strike going in off the post.

Steven Gerrard will barely be able to believe what he is watching. His side, who forced Hugo Lloris to make SEVEN saves in the first half alone, find themselves four down and on the end of a hiding.

Rachel T: This is top four football from Spurs - soaking up the pressure and putting chances away.

Lillie O'Neill: We need to make Kulusevski a permanent part of our squad he's been amazing since joining us

    Son Heung-min (66 mins)

Two for Son Heung-min, three goals and three points for Tottenham.

This one will drive Steven Gerrard crazy. It's just a routine ball forward from Spurs right through the middle. Harry Kane flicks it on at the halfway line, Son races on to it and calmly lifts the finish past Emiliano Martinez.

"Are you watching Arsenal," is the taunt from the Spurs fans.

    Aston Villa 0-2 Tottenham

Lucas Digne crosses from deep on the left flank for Aston Villa and it finds the head of Ollie Watkins, but his header loops up harmlessly in the air and that's the easiest save Hugo Lloris has made today.

    Aston Villa 0-2 Tottenham

Three corners in a row for Aston Villa. Just as they did after conceding their first, they're piling on the pressure.

Eventually it comes to Danny Ings, 25 yards out, and he curls at goal, but it's just over the top.

  16. Miracle worker?published at 52 mins

    Aston Villa 0-2 Tottenham

Not too long ago, Antonio Conte said it would take a "miracle" to get Tottenham into the Champions League next season.

Barring a superb Villa fightback, Spurs are going to end the day fourth (the last Champions League spot), three points clear of Arsenal in fifth.

    Dejan Kulusevski (51 mins)

Tottenham scored early in the first half and they've scored early in the second half.

Harry Kane's flick on finds Dejan Kulusevski and he gets into the box, takes a touch to compose himself and drills a low shot into the far corner.

Spurs have only had three shots on target, two have ended up in the net.

Seven saves is the joint-most Hugo Lloris has ever made in a single half of a Premier League match - along with the second half v Leicester in Feb 2019.
