The Ings of 2 or 3 seasons ago and Villa would be winning this game. I'm afraid he isnt the same player now. Time to get him off the pitch and offload him in summer.

Just the seven saves from Hugo Lloris in the opening 45 minutes at Villa Park. Superb goalkeeping.

Sho: How are Spurs still winning this game? They've been battered since the goal.

    Aston Villa 0-1 Tottenham

Tottenham, thanks to Son Heung-min's third-minute goal and then an incredible performance from goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, find themselves in front at the break.

Steven Gerrard will be furious with the goal Villa conceded but encouraged by their response since going behind.

Spurs lead, despite being under so much pressure from Villa. Hugely enjoyable.

More brilliance from Hugo Lloris. Philippe Coutinho takes a free kick from the tight angle and it so nearly deceives Lloris.

But Lloris does so well to scamper across his goalline and keep it out by the narrowest of margins. He ends up in the net, but the ball doesn't.

Another chance for Villa and another save from Hugo Lloris. A cross to the back post finds Matty Cash, who shows great technique to take the volley on the full, but Lloris is down quickly and equal to it.

Philippe Coutinho then has a chance and it would've been heading towards the top corner before it deflected off goalscorer Son Heung-min.

Sergio Reguilon almost doubles Tottenham's lead in fortunate style. His shot takes a double deflection, first off Ezri Konsa, then Tyrone Mings with the ball bouncing off Mings and only kept out of the net by hitting Emiliano Martinez's face.

Spurs have the lead from their only shot on target so far, while at the other end Hugo Lloris has already had to make five saves to keep his team ahead.

Since falling behind, Villa have been the better team. This time Philippe Coutinho gives it to Danny Ings and he releases Ollie Watkins, but can only shoot it at Hugo Lloris.

The Spurs goalkeeper can only parry it, although Eric Dier does well to clear it with Ings ready to pounce.

And then another chance for Villa.

Jacob Ramsey crosses from the right, Watkins flicks it to the back post where Ings is, but it's a mis-hit, a disappointing finish, and doesn't trouble Lloris.

  17. 'We had to be brave'published at 18:05 British Summer Time 9 April 2022

    FT: Arsenal 1-2 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton boss Graham Potter to Sky Sports: "Three points in the Premier League are difficult to get and that game showed why so it is a fantastic feeling. The performance was really good and the result was even better. We had to be brave and use the qualities we've got in the team; Moises [Caicedo], Yves [Bissouma] and Enock [Mbwepu] were really important for us in terms of winning balls in the midfield.

"We needed a bit of luck; we needed our goalkeeper to make saves. We need all these things to get results. The first goal is vital in any game; it was important we pushed for the second. It was really important; it gave us something to defend, but we had to hold on."

It's all action and now both Danny Ings and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg are on the deck needing treatment after a collision.

Ollie Watkins had crossed from the left, Hojbjerg had got there just before Ings, with an accidental clash between Hojbjerg and Ings following. Both OK to continue. It's 100 miles an hour this one. Fast and frantic.
