This afternoon's game at the Academy Stadium holds a great deal of importance for both sides.

Manchester City are bidding to complete a domestic cup double after beating arch-rivals Chelsea in the League Cup final just over a fortnight ago.

Realistically out of the league title race, this is City's only chance of adding a second piece of silverware this season.

Everton, meanwhile, will be looking to salvage something from a pretty disastrous season in which two managers have already come and gone - and they will also be out for revenge for their extra-time Cup final defeat by City two seasons ago.

  2. Can Tractor Girls plough on into semis?published at 12:15 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March 2022

Ipswich v West Ham (12:30 GMT)

Ipswich Town are this season's Women's FA Cup fairytale story, the third-tier side the lowest ranked team remaining in the competition.

But West Ham should beware of underestimating their lunchtime hosts, who sit top of the National League Southern Premier Division, with just one defeat all season and having scored 62 goals in the process.

The Tractor Girls are hoping for a slightly less chastening experience than their last cup game against a top-flight outfit when they were thrashed 10-0 by Manchester City in the FA Cup fifth round in 2020.

"We've still got the same squad, the same group of players, we're a couple more years on in terms of experience, age and physical development. It's going to be really exciting to see where we're at now compared to then," boss Joe Sheehan told BBC Sport's Adam Williams. Read more here.

Good afternoon and welcome to our live text coverage of the remaining three Women's FA Cup quarter-finals this fine Sunday afternoon.

The standout tie sees third-tier underdogs Ipswich Town bidding to reach the semi-finals for the first time in their history as they host Women's Super League side West Ham in a classic Cup 'David v Goliath' affair.

There are two other ties taking place today as WSL giants Chelsea and Manchester City seek to secure their spots in the last four - they face fellow top-flight clubs Birmingham and Everton respectively.

Not long until kick-off in two of those games - so let's get on with it, shall we?
