    Sutton 0-0 Rotherham

Bright start from Rotherham on the expansive Wembley pitch, with Chiedozie Ogbene's pace causing problems on the right.

Sutton have cleared a couple of raids down that flank already. One to watch.

Birmingham 0-0 West Brom; Sutton 0-0 Rotherham

We've had the usual call-and-response chants exchanged in a febrile derby atmosphere at St Andrew's, and a national anthem sung and pennants exchanged at a super-charged Wembley.

There was also a minute's applause for Blues fan Barrington Patterson, who recently passed away.

Pre-match ceremony has been wrapped up. We're up and running.

Sutton might have had a novelty song recorded by Tim Vine to build up to the final but Rotherham arguably have THE celebrity fan in Paul Chuckle.

    We're talking real VIP.

Now we've got the national anthem.

Millers have won this cup before as well, when former Forest favourite Nigel Jemson delivered it at the old Wembley in 1996.

Rotherham in some respects have bigger fish to fry this season with promotion back to the Championship a major priority, but their cup run has dovetailed nicely with that push so far.

The Millers lead League One with a miserly defence and effective attack, while Sutton are mid-table in the division below amid the first EFL campaign in their history.

"I appreciate we are the favourites, but only league position - and a cup game for 90 minutes, anything can happen," Warne told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"It's two good teams, both attacking teams and it should be a good game.

"My only thought is I'd love to win but if we don't win I hope Sutton deserve to win."

Papa John's Trophy: Sutton v Rotherham (15:00 BST)

    Matt Gray and Bruce Elliott

There's definitely a bit of snobbery about the 'new' Wembley.

Whether it's big club fans who are seemingly tired of going there year after year, or those who compare it to the ambience of the old place, there is certainly some apathy to the national stadium these days.

So, it's equally refreshing and reinvigorating to see fans for whom a trip to the 'home of football' is something to behold - and Sutton fans certainly fit into that bracket.

There have been generations of fans who never got the chance to see their club in the past 41 years since they last went, and today they see the 'Amber and Chocolates' take to the hallowed turf against Rotherham - with the Papa John's Trophy up for grabs.

"It's something that I'm sure every supporter is waiting for and many have waited many years for and never seen the club at Wembley before," chairman Bruce Elliott told BBC Radio London.

"It's a hugely exciting time for everyone connected with the club."

Birmingham City come into today's derby with West Bromwich Albion on a run of just three wins in 13 games.

Blues boss Lee Bowyer continues to see progress from his team though, particularly on the road after victory at Bristol City and a dominant draw with Swansea in which they were unfortunate not to win.

However, there are few home comforts right now for Bowyer and his players at St Andrew's.

"The one thing, and I never like to use excuses, is our pitch at home is poor," Bowyer told BBC Radio WM.

"I don't think it's a coincidence that we play better football away from home, I don't think it's the pressures of the crowd.

"We brought good players here because we want to play this nice, attacking football, we've been showing that away.

"It's more difficult when we're at home, and I want them [the fans] to see this."

  7. Bruce aware of local derby feelingspublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 3 April 2022

Baggies boss Steve Bruce is only missing Wolves from the full house that is the four-way West Midlands rivalry between Aston Villa, Birmingham, West Brom and the gold and black.

He spent two years as a player and later six years as a manager at Birmingham, crossed the second city for a stint at Villa and currently occupies The Hawthorns hot-seat.

So he's pretty well qualified to understand the tensions these sorts of games produced.

"They'll want to turn us over, that's for sure and us exactly the same," he told BBC Radio WM.

"It's always nice to play in a bit of a derby. It adds a bit of spice, so I'll look forward to the challenge.

"I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Blues. I spent almost 10 years there, first as player, then as manager, which is a bit chunk of my career and I always look forward to going back."

Birmingham v West Brom (15:00 BST)

Blues, who have not won or even scored in three games, make two changes to the team that started the 0-0 draw at Swansea prior to the international break.

Defender Kristian Pedersen returns from suspension and January signing Lyle Taylor is back after two games out. Ivan Sunjic and Jordan Graham drop to the bench.

Albion, unbeaten in four games, are unchanged for former Steve Bruce's first return to St Andrew's as Baggies boss - but by far from the much-travelled Championship manager's first appearance in the away dug-out.

Birmingham City: Etheridge, Gordon, Roberts, Pedersen, Colin, Bacuna, Gardner, Hernandez, Chong, Hogan, Taylor.

Subs: Woods, Richards, Jutkiewicz, Bela, Graham, Trueman (gk), Sunjic.

Cheers for joining us then on this Sunday afternoon.

Kick-off isn't far away in the capital or the second city.

Let's have a look at the teams from both games, starting with the Championship derby between Birmingham and West Brom.

The intensity of a derby, plus the pomp and circumstance of a final.

That's what's on offer for today, ladies and gentlemen.

Birmingham and West Brom might have rivals a little closer to home but there's always room on the menu for a little bit of extra local spice - such as today's Championship meeting at St Andrew's.

And, if that's not enough, the romance of Sutton United walking out at Wembley for the first time in more than 40 years to play League One leaders Rotherham United in the Papa John's Trophy final.

Derby passions and Wembley wonder. What a Sunday afternoon lies ahead.
