    Everton 0-0 Brentford

    So, so close!

Lovely football by Everton as they attack quickly and with precision. The front three all combine before Anthony Gordon's flick is clawed away and then Richarlison heads into the sidenetting.

The whole ground thought that header was in.

As an Arsenal fan I really hope Everton get the job done today. Firstly because I think losing a club with Everton's history from the top flight would be a travesty and secondly because it would take the pressure off them to get a result against us on Arsenal's inevitable final day drama for fourth place!

There's a huge roar as Everton win a very early corner - great start by the home team.

Anthony Gordon sends the ball deep, it is headed away but only to Vitaliy Mykolenko, who shoots well wide.

Goodison Park is a fantastic stadium. Football moves on and clubs have to modernise, but it's such a shame they have to move from Goodison because it's an incredible stadium. It generates a great atmosphere and it will be a sad day. But hopefully there are many more good days before they have to do that.

  6. 'We needed the second goal'published at 16:29 British Summer Time 15 May 2022

    FT: Leeds 1-1 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton boss Graham Potter, speaking to BBC Sport: "Frustrating I guess with the lateness of the goal but in fairness Rob [Sanchez] has had to make some saves and we needed a second goal to kill it off with the situation Leeds are in. While it is 1-0 the game is alive and Leeds created chances in the second half. I am not too despondent with a point. Our players gave everything. We were really strong in the first half.

"The second half wasn't as good as the first from our perspective and credit the opponent for that, but still Danny Welbeck has a really good chance at 1-0 and Tariq Lamptey at the end. We were conscious of the environment, the crowd, the situation Leeds are in. We needed a second, didn't get it and credit Leeds for their point."

  7. 'It is a frustrating result'published at 16:29 British Summer Time 15 May 2022

    Wolves 1-1 Norwich

    Wolves

Wolves boss Bruno Lage to BBC Match of the Day: "We are frustrated with the result. It has been easy to score goals against us in the last months. We tried to do our best; we changed the dynamic a bit, scored one and should score more. It is a draw, it is not good for us and me. I wanted a good performance and result for the fans who supported us this season."

On poor home form: "Sometimes the games are balanced and we are suffering first and conceding first, even when the opponent is doing nothing. Today, we are controlling the game, we tried to find our spaces to play. We are missing some players; it is easy to find spaces against our defence and it is hard for me to be in this moment. We tried to play with two defenders in the second half and created chances. It is one point."

  8. 'We must be more ruthless and clinical'published at 16:28 British Summer Time 15 May 2022

    Aston Villa 1-1 Crystal Palace

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard speaking to BBC Sport: "I think Patrick [Vieira] will say that [it was a fair result].

"We're a little bit frustrated. It was a good battle. We improved a lot in the second half. We expect to score more than one goal and we've conceded naively on a set play.

"Credit to Ollie [Watkins] for pulling through [after suffering an injury in midweek]. Maybe a lot of other players wouldn't have put their body on the line today.

"If you can't win the game it is important to take something from it."

On Crystal Palace's goal: "We didn't need to give the foul away. We need to defend situations better. If you don't defend second phases you will concede goals.

"We need to be more ruthless and clinical. We are creating good chances. We still concede stupid goals. There's a lot of areas we need to improve and we will try and do that for next season."

  10. 'We dig ourselves into holes and have to dig our way out'published at 16:25 British Summer Time 15 May 2022

    FT: Leeds 1-1 Brighton

    Leeds United

Leeds boss Jesse Marsch, speaking to Sky Sports: "Our goal was to get three points today but we knew that any points and Burnley not getting any would shift the pressure a bit the other way. Burnley still has a match in hand but to fight that way and stay in the match... second half I thought was quite good. We were unlucky not to come away with more.

"The first corner kick we have a great chance and the way it is going, of course it hits our own man in the face and prevents it being a goal. First half we couldn't really settle in. Our confidence on the ball and our movement wasn't good enough. Our pressure at points meant we were a bit all over the place. Brighton were able to exploit it and cause us troubles. We tried to be a bit more compact after the 30th minute. From there on we pushed the game a bit more and were unlucky not to come away with more.

"This is a psychological battle we are in. We need to show up next week and show us at our best. What you see is we are put in difficult situations and the resolve of our team. We need to be able to show that at the beginning of matches too. It is a fight. Nothing comes easy for us. We seem to dig holes and then have to find a way to dig out. We are ready. We are going to invest everything we have in this last match and see if we can do this.

"It is all about focusing on results. We need to stay strong with each other and not get frustrated. Stick to match plans and try to find a way to win the game."

    Everton v Brentford (16:30 BST)

    James McFadden
Former Everton forward on BBC Radio 5 Live

I've spoken to a few people round and about and they are nervous about what is going to happen but I think their confidence comes from performances and results and it's a huge occasion today.

Obviously the ambition of the club is to be higher up the table and trying to fight for Europe, but the reality is they are in a relegation fight. They have got it in their hands to get out of it and everyone is on the same page and that's a credit to Frank Lampard because he came in and it was a real mess. He has galvanised everyone and fans see a team that is committed. They look like they are playing for the shirt and trying to win games for fans, which is all they can ever ask for.

  13. 'We wanted to stop the bleeding'published at 16:23 British Summer Time 15 May 2022

    Wolves 1-1 Norwich

    Norwich City

Norwich boss Dean Smith speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "We certainly did [get an encouraging performance in the first half]. We had three wonderful chances; Teemu has been put through a number of times. I thought defensively we restricted them to not many chances at all. It was a really good, workmanlike performance but I'm disappointed we haven't got all three because we could have been more than a goal up at half time.

"[The equaliser] was preventable because it wasn't a free kick! Unfortunately we have decisions like that go against us week in, week out. We are disappointed by that. We wanted to stop the bleeding today; we've been conceding too many goals and too many big chances. I thought we did that today. Second half, we were careless on the ball and didn't keep it as well as we did first half. We thoroughly merited the point."

  15. 'We dominated most of the game'published at 16:19 British Summer Time 15 May 2022

    FT: Leeds 1-1 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton forward Danny Welbeck, speaking to Sky Sports: "Everybody is not very happy in the dressing room. We should have kept it a bit tighter, got the clean sheet and taken the points home. It is a tough pill to swallow. We have to regroup, get ready for the last game of the season and finish strongly.

"We dominated most of the game and started well. We knew they would be aggressive and the crowd would get behind them. We had to keep the ball and try to exploit some of their weaknesses by getting in behind the backline. We got the goal and put them under pressure but momentum swung their way towards the final few minutes.

"It was a nice ball down the side [for his goal] and duel with the defender. I stayed string and when it fell to me I knew what I would do next.

"It is hard to think about that today, but when we look back at the season it is our record for points for the season. We want to build on that and improve."

  16. 'No manager in the world could have saved us'published at 16:19 British Summer Time 15 May 2022

    Watford 1-5 Leicester

    Watford

Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster: "In the final game of the season you can’t put in a performance like that. It’s been a disappointing season, it’s been a bit of a disaster from start to finish. You have to give the fans something to cheer about in the final home game and we didn’t do that. We were miles off.

“People definitely can’t be pinning blame on Roy Hodgson. He galvanised us a bit. We were a wayward team and didn’t know what our game plan was. He got us working as a unit. The confidence has been so low. It doesn’t help when you’re getting battered and punished for mistakes. I don’t think a manager in the world could have saved us. What Roy and Ray [Lewington] have done for us is brilliant. I’ve enjoyed playing with them.

"I think a few players will leave and a few will come in. Hopefully we can do what we did a couple of years ago and bounce back. We have a lot of quality individuals."

Have to say, the Everton fans have been superb in getting behind their players in their fight against relegation. They will have more than played their part if they do retain their Premier League status.

  18. 'City came out a different team'published at 16:15 British Summer Time 15 May 2022

FT: West Ham 2-2 Man City

    Alan Shearer
Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

What a comeback from Man City. They were all over the place defensively. West Ham were getting some real joy from Bowen and Antonio and deserved their two goals. They didn't need half-time to be honest. City came out a bit of a different team and West Ham went 10 or 15 yards further back under pressure. West Ham could have scored again and again City were poor defensively then they had the penalty and failed to take that opportunity. What a great game it was

  19. 'They were hungry right to the end'published at 16:11 British Summer Time 15 May 2022

    Watford 1-5 Leicester

    Leicester City

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers to BBC Sport: “It was a fantastic win. It’s never easy at this stage of the season when people think you have nothing to play for. I’m proud of the players. They turned up. They were hungry right to the end. A good win for us.

“It was another unfortunate deflection from the corner which saw us concede. Our response was outstanding. The hunger and momentum and feeling the game was good for us. It’s how we want to play. We want to be difficult to play against with or without the ball. We did both today.

“We’ll definitely be doing something [about their struggles defending set-pieces] come the summer. We’ve tried different structures throughout the season. We were unfortunate today, it was an own goal by big Tim. Too many times we’re not getting first contact. We’ll rectify that.

“It’s also aggression as well. It’s all about first contact. That’s about the mentality and aggression to get there first.

“I thought the attacking part of our game was outstanding. James Maddison’s quality was sensational – his passing, his delivery, work rate was very good. We had that intensity. We were penetrating. We talked before about making more runs in behind.”

Recovering from two goals down in a tough away fixture with the title on the line - perhaps we can have a bit less on how little character and bottle the City players have got now

    Dan

What a mad game. Disappointed with the penalty for the title but the Hammers could have scored more quite easily. Plus, score together, miss together. Ref missed a big one on Jesus in the first half, but mostly glad about the come back - and that it's over! Well played West Ham. Come on City!
