They came here for their final home game hoping to seal their safety but have been undone by a superior Palace side.

That's twice now Nick Pope has saved goal-bound efforts from John McGinn.

They need to relieve the pressure around their goal.

Everton just look void of ideas at the minute.

They have ability but there’s no confidence.

Big appeals for handball as a cross is intercepted by Jeffrey Schlupp. The ball skipped up off the turf and hit the Palace man's thigh before hitting his arm. No penalty.

Is a Villa goal coming? Calum Chambers shoots over from yet another corner.

Emiliano Buendía has been directly involved in four of Villa's eight shots so far (three shots, one chance created).

Chelsea have seen an awful lot of the ball tonight, but not done anything with it. They have a half chance as Reece James' cross from the right finds the head of Thiago Silva but the veteran defender can only head it well over the bar.

Villa are certainly on top. John McGinn flicks up a long ball on the edge of the box, lets it bounce and sends a spinning shot towards the top corner which Nick Pope tips over.

Goalscorer James Maddison gets the ball deep for the visitors and is looking for the head of Jamie Vardy but Thiago Silva is well positioned to head the cross away.

Zahi: Not an Everton fan but they’re really hard done by some decisions this year. Jordan Ayew should’ve been in the showers instead of scoring that goal. Clear red card.

Lawrence: Everton players should spend more time trying to play and less time trying to get fellow professionals sent off. I am pleased their tactics have not been rewarded.

It seems like Leicester are in a training session. Everyone is back in their own half. It does give them a breather.

It's the first time that they can get more than two players up the Chelsea half. Time on the ball is also needed.

I wonder if the Burnley bench is being told what is happening at Goodison Park - and whether it might shape their tactics later in this game.

If Burnley draw this game they go above Leeds and out of the bottom three. As it stands, if they won, they would go above Everton as well.

Matty Cash has a crack from a bit of an angle but it goes wide. There's not been loads to write home about here, but Villa have done most of what's happened.

Jack Butland's poor clearance under pressure gives Everton a chance to create something, but Andre Gomes' low shot from range is easily saved by the away keeper.

Leicester have had 19% of the ball, no corners and just one shot. They lead 1-0.

That goal was a calamity from start to finish. There are some very angry Everton fans, who are having to go down to the concourse to cool down. Silence has descended on Goodison.

Some may question whether Jordan Ayew should have been on the pitch.
