  1. Can Brighton secure their best ever finish?published at 15:15 British Summer Time 22 May 2022

Brighton v West Ham (16:00 BST)

    Brighton & Hove Albion

If Brighton get a point today it will secure the best league finish in their history.

The Seagulls are in 10th place, but could finish 14th if they lose.

Albion's 13th-placed finish in 1981–82 was their best top-flight season until now.

“The challenge is to keep improving the team, the club and keep improving our points tally," said boss Graham Potter. Our guys are ambitious, they’re determined and want to succeed.”

West Ham need to win and hope Manchester United don't if they are going to qualify for the Europa League.

They are guaranteed a Europa Conference League spot no matter what happens today.

"It'll only be worth monitoring [other results] if we're winning. Other than that, we have to do our job," said boss David Moyes.

"This season we've had 12 extra matches in Europe and gone further in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.

"We've found it quite difficult, but we've also found it enjoyable. The European games were incredibly exciting.

"It's a huge plus for us and a great achievement, but the thought we could finish sixth again, after the year we've had, it's a good sign.

"I hope we can roughly maintain and build on it for next season."

Whether Manchester City win the title today or not, their long-serving captain Fernandinho will say farewell to their fans at the final whistle.

The 37-year-old Brazilian was not just one of the finest defensive midfielders in the top flight during his nine years at City, he will also be remembered as the loudest cheerleader in their squad while the stadiums were empty during the Covid pandemic.

A coaching career, or perhaps one announcing train departure times at Manchester Piccadilly station now awaits.

A fifth Premier League title would be the perfect leaving present, but the club have also honoured him with a mosaic at their training ground that depicts his goal in City's 7-2 win over Stoke in 2017, and naming a pitch after him too.

City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said: “His place in Manchester City history is assured. He deserves this tribute and I hope every young footballer who sees this mosaic is inspired by the career he has had.”

  7. 'Everybody loves Origi'published at 15:08 British Summer Time 22 May 2022

    Liverpool v Wolves (16:00 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool striker Divock Origi is set to leave this summer after eight years at the club.

Jurgen Klopp described Origi as a "Liverpool legend" who has been "one of the most important players I have ever worked with".

He scored twice in the epic 2019 Champions League comeback against Barcelona then in the final against Tottenham, as well as six goals against local rivals Everton.

Sadly an injury means he will not get the chance to make one last appearance for the Reds today.

"It has been a pure joy to work with him," said Klopp. "Wherever he will go he will be successful, 100%.

"An outstanding player, an outstanding boy. Everybody in the team loves him. It will be a harsh moment when he leaves.

"I remember so many things when I think about him: important goals, injuries, ups and downs... he's a Liverpool legend, no doubt."

  8. 'We cannot play two games'published at 15:07 British Summer Time 22 May 2022

    Liverpool v Wolves (16:00 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to Sky Sports: "Both [Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah] are ready to come on but not to start. That's the advice I got from the medical department. Fabinho is training but not with us. He will at the beginning of next week. Divock Origi in the last day of training got a muscle injury which is not great news. I would have loved to say goodbye on the pitch. It's all good, it's not that serious so whichever club he chooses we wish him the best of luck and he will be fine.

"We decided a while ago that we are men on a mission and we do that since then. We try to win football games and nothing changes since then. The boys have given us the opportunity to be in it today. We just have to enjoy the opportunity and try to win the football game here today which is difficult enough. That's all I'm concerned about. We have to be in the right mood - the whole stadium. Outside it looks like it means a lot to the people today. We will see what happens.

"I can definitely [enjoy it]. I could not be more proud of the players because it's absolutely insane, the strongest league in the world and to play the second half of the season like we did is special. While we did that we won two competitions, qualified for the Champions League final - it's crazy. I will enjoy it.

"We can only play one game, we cannot play two games. We can't play there too. We just have to win then Stevie [Gerrard] - do the rest! We have to win our own game then see."

I've lived every football fan's dream - Noble

Today is the end of West Ham midfielder Mark Noble's playing career.

The 35-year-old was a Hammers fan as a kid and has made 549 appearances for the club, scoring 62 goals. If he plays today - which David Moyes says is not guaranteed - it will be 550.

Their final home game, against Manchester City, saw a guard of honour for Noble and his children. The Mark Noble Arena has been opened at the club's academy.

"I would say this to any player, go out on your own terms when you are ready," he told BBC Sport. "You retire from the game, don't let the game retire you.

"That leaves you in peace. That was so important for me."
