    Croatia 1-1 Canada

Canada made an explosive start with that Davies goal, but his header is the only effort on goal they've mustered.

Croatia have regained control and have created the better openings.

Tom, Peterborough: Re Daniel 16:29... But... Europe's elite have only played half a season before this World Cup, normally they've played a 60 game season beforehand? They should be at peak fitness, there can't be a better time to play surely?!

Ashley, Wrexham: Disagree with Daniel. We are three months into a new season. The players should be up for this. I just think this World Cup is demonstrating that the standard of play everywhere is improving. Expect a new name on the trophy this year.

Canada are a very good team but what they’re lacking is being clinical and their decision making in the final third isn’t there. They need to start working on that to grab that important second goal.

      Croatia's experience coming through.

They didn't panic, created openings and finally get their reward.

You could feel that one coming. The dominance of Croatia has slowly been creeping into this game bit by bit.

This was a lovely-worked move. You have to say that Canada switch off a little here. It's a lovely finish but poor defending.

The door was opening for Croatia and they've punished Canada with their passing. Lovely move. Perisic with the reverse pass and Kramaric tucks it into the far corner and it's a brilliant finish.

      Andrej Kramaric (Croatia)

It had been coming and Croatia are level. It is a delightful reverse pass from Tottenham's Ivan Perisic and Andrej Kramaric runs on to it, hits it first time left-footed and angles the finish past Milan Borjan.

It's the running and the movement of Kovacic once again which is really starting to get things moving in the midfield for Croatia.

Croatia are starting to give the ball away. They were crisp with their passing early on. Modric wants to drop deep to pick up the ball from the defence but he's being told to stay in a more advanced position.

It's been a good spell from Croatia, with the long throws of Josep Juranovic a pretty handy weapon for them before Canada crowd Luka Modric out when he has possession in the penalty area.

Marko Livaja then has a chance after being played in by Mateo Kovacic and it's a good save from the legs of Milan Borjan.

Canadians are jumping up and down in the stands at the moment, they are certainly enjoying their evening so far.

Croatia, finalists last time out, look a little off it, a bit flat.

It's the initial ball through to Livaja which is about half a yard offside. That's the first time I've seen Kramaric move with any sort of intensity.

Really nice link-up play from Livaja but it's a shame he's just crept offside because that would have been a really nicely-worked goal.

Daniel: Not to take anything away from the amazing efforts of Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Japan and Canada but you do wonder how much player fatigue is playing a part for the more fancied teams in these shock results.

Former Leicester striker Andrej Kramaric is having a much better time of it at Hoffenheim than he did at the King Power.

Four goals in 20 games and he was shipped off to Germany...at the start of THAT title winning campaign.

    • DISALLOWED GOAL - Croatiapublished at 16:26 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2022

Croatia think they have an equaliser as Andrej Kramaric plays a one-two with Marko Livaja then Kramaric runs through and slots it in the bottom corner.

But Livaja was just offside when making the pass and Canada's lead remains intact.

      Croatia 0-1 Canada

Croatia attack again down the left and Borna Sosa's delivery is touched by Andrej Kramaric into Luka Modric's path but it is an extremely rare poor touch from the former Ballon d'Or winner.

The lightning quick Alphonso Davies leads the counter attack, but it falters on the edge of the Croatia box. This Canada team are great to watch though and certainly winning a lot of friends.

Alphonso Davies' pace is stunning. When he wins the ball he travels with such pace. I've seen him play centre forward for Canada. They see him as their Gareth Bale.
