Sarah: Great to see Croatia have rediscovered the united, fast flowing and elegant football which made them such a great watch for so many years before their lacklustre Euro 2020.

    On that chance for Kramaric...

When the ball goes across Modric's body his accuracy is fantastic, it is like a little scoop. He gets his head up, sees where the runner is. He's so good when he's at that goal-line at being able to pick people out.

Sierra Sierra: Alphonso Davies really does have it all, doesn't he? Has there ever been a player to win a Champions League as a left back and play as a striker at the World Cup before?

Canada are still in this one and have a chance to make it 2-2. Jonathan David tries his luck and it is pushed over by Dominik Livakovic. It was just above him so you'd expect him to save it, which he does athletically.

Canada needs to generate WAY more attack in this 2nd half! We need to take it to Croatia. We had 1 shot on target all half which was the goal. We can score on this team but we need to shoot the ball and press them!

    Mark

Since Canada scored the first goal in the 2nd minute, the defence took a drastic backseat which allowed Croatia to make a laboured comeback. Canada just need to tighten up if they want to take at least one point tonight.

It's another wonderful reverse pass from Modric and Kramaric's shot should be nestling in the back of the net. Fine save but it should be all over.

  10. GREAT SAVE!published at 55 mins

    Croatia 2-1 Canada

That could've been the game. Luka Modric gets free down the right and the pullback finds Andrej Kramaric free, central, 12 yards out.

Kramaric strikes it well but it is an excellent save from Milan Borjan to keep the ball out of the net and keep his side in this match.

Watch the first-half goal from Andrej Kramaric which was ruled out by the linesman. Croatia won't mind it too much now, though...

Croatia (against Canada) are the second team to be winning at half time having conceded the first goal in a game at World Cup 2022 (after France v Australia) - something that never happened once in any of the previous five World Cup tournaments combined

Nearly a dream introduction for Jonathan Osorio. It's a great effort, with the ball curling away but drifts just past the post. So, so close.

I think it looks like a back five for Canada. That frees up Alphonso Davies to play higher up the pitch as a centre-forward with Jonathan David. They were getting unstuck too easily. They can't afford to go a goal down in the opening minutes of this half.

Canada need to score in this half as a loss will mean they can't make the last 16.

Canada’s carefree approach to this game, although refreshing, is exactly why other managers and nations have been so cautious with their tactics at this World Cup. The Canadian players ran out of steam after running themselves ragged and that’s why 14/27 matches have been 0-0 at half-time at this tournament.

It's been really well-measured by Croatia and they've looked like they could've got more. The speed at which they've got runners going forward when they're breaking is brilliant. Kovacic is showing his pace but also in wide areas Perisic and Kramaric are looking really good in the attack.

You feel like if they get the right combinations and numbers in the right areas then they'll pick Canada off.
