    England 0-1 France

Tight and tense. That's probably the best way to sum up that first half. And it was shown in the data.

England have shaded possession at 57.6% and the game has been played relatively evenly across the three action areas.

If expected goals is your thing, England's is 0.41 compared to France's 0.32.

Yeah, the challenge on Bukayo Saka by Upamecano was a foul.

It's always the same isn't it? You spend all day looking forward to the game and then hate every agonising second of watching it.

Signs of good teams are that they score when on top. England had their time on top and created a couple of chances but didn't score, that's the difference really so far. France just had that moment of quality.

A few jeers from the England fans greet the half-time whistle but it's not towards the players.

They have been far from impressed with the officials.

The penalty shout? Probably outside the area - just. But how a foul was not given on Bukayo Saka in the build-up I don't know.

Phil Foden makes a beeline for the ref to let him know of his dissatisfaction. The official is unmoved, though. He gives his assistants a high five each and trots off.

    Nope.

Phil Foden clears everyone in the box, including Harry Maguire, who stumbles.

It's like Griezmann is playing in a park, just wandering around without a care in the world. He's so clever in the way he plays, finding the pockets of space.

Rashford and Grealish to come on after half--time and win this game for England.

    Ali. Milton Keynes

Bring on Grealish for Foden in the second half. England need a player that can draw fouls from the French on the edge of the box just like Saka.

For all the endless plaudits given to Henderson, he’s holding this team back. We are a player down creatively, this game is passing him by. Grealish for Henderson and Rashford for Saka half time.

Jude Bellingham continues to offer that energy, running beyond the ball to try and get England in. His cross from the left after one such run is cut out and cleared.

  19. England testing Llorispublished at 19:44 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2022

    England 0-1 France

England have had their chances and might be level if it wasn't for France keeper Hugo Lloris.

The Three Lions have had five efforts at the French goal, which are illustrated in the graphic below by the black circles.

Three of those - two from Harry Kane and another from Luke Shaw - were on target.

France, as you can see through the pink circles on the left, have attempted three shots and two of those were on target.

Most important was the one from Aurélien Tchouaméni (8)...

    Frustrating.

Declan Rice's touch lets him down as he charges forward trying to fashion a chance. Too many loose touches and passes.
