Eddie Nketiah is wanted by West Ham, Sadio Mane is off to Bayern Munich and Birmingham City are being bought out. That's what the Gossip column says anyway.

    What else is in there?

Arsenal are ready to explore a move for England forward Raheem Sterling if Manchester City agree to sell the 27-year-old this summer, when he will have one year left on his contract.

Aston Villa have made an initial £12m bid to sign Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho on a permanent deal.

  2. 'Celtic's special night'published at 12:50 British Summer Time 10 May 2022

Dundee Utd v Celtic (Wed, 19:30 BST)

Ange Postecoglou hopes Celtic make it a "special" night for the Hoops fans when they face Dundee United in a potential title-clincher at Tannadice.

With two cinch Premiership fixtures remaining, Celtic are six points ahead of Europa League finalists Rangers with a goal difference superior by 20 which in reality makes the title Parkhead-bound.

"After last season's disappointments, not just the fact that we obviously didn't have success as a football club, they weren't able to feel part of it, they couldn't contribute as they weren't allowed in the stadiums.

"This year everyone has put in maximum effort including our supporters. Everything they had pent up from last year they have released this year in a positive way and I am sure everyone is looking forward to the last two games.

"Our role in that is to make sure we continue on with our good form and continue on from the football we played at the weekend and take that into tomorrow night and as I said, take the opportunity to make it a special night."

A look at Erling Haaland's statistics underline the finishing prowess Manchester City are close to acquiring.

He's netted 154 in 199 games in all competitions if we go back to a spell in the Norwegian third division in 2015.

But now that he's grown into himself, he's picking up speed in finding the net. In three seasons at Borussia Dortmund it's 85 goals in 88 games.

    Not too shabby my friends.

  8. 'Down to the wire'published at 12:12 British Summer Time 10 May 2022

Brighton's Adam Lallana says he expects the title race to go "down to the wire".

The former Liverpool midfielder tells Sky Sports: "Liverpool got a point at the weekend. Some might say it's dropped pints but all City need to do is lose a game. In this league, believe you me it can happen to everyone.

"I speak to Jordan Henderson and James Milner most days. It's great seeing what they are doing. I am following and supporting them. Hopefully I can get out to Paris as well for the Champions League final. It's going to be great, two European giants going at it again. Hopefully Liverpool get the better of them this time."

  11. Erling Haaland deal closepublished at 11:58 British Summer Time 10 May 2022

Wolves v Man City (Wed, 20:15BST)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

It will be interesting to see how Pep Guardiola deals with inevitable questions about Erling Haaland at his press conference later this afternoon.

Haaland's move to Manchester City is almost done - and evidently it has been a process that has involved a lot of Blues input, past and present, if reports are accurate that Vincent Kompany helped sort out Haaland's medical in Belgium yesterday.

Guardiola may stick to the trusted 'I don't want to talk about another club's players'. But that won't stop the questions I am pretty sure.

Sir Spice: Aragorn's speech in the Return of the King. I remember our manager making us watch it as kids before Sunday League games. Even if you're not a fan of the films, it really gets you going. We ended up wining the top division league and Cup double.

We're asking you what you'd use to motivate you or your team for a relegation battle. Leeds manager Jesse Marsch has told reporters today he has a dossier of motivational material that he gives players when they need it.

  13. A Champions League change...published at 11:40 British Summer Time 10 May 2022

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

More key meetings will be held this morning over the revised Champions League format from 2024.

The topic was the centre of discussions at a European Clubs’ Association meeting in Madrid yesterday, when Uefa outlined their latest plans. There will be a meeting of Uefa’s competitions’ committee this morning.

If agreement is reached, it will be ratified at this afternoon’s Uefa executive committee, although it is possible a final decision could be delayed.

The continuing discussions are understood to involve ditching the controversial proposal to award two places in the expanded 36-team first phase on the basis of historical performance rather than direct qualification as at present.

ECA had been pushing for UEFA’s co-efficient to be used as a back-stop for two clubs who either finished one place below an automatic qualification place or won their domestic cup competition.

If the system was in place this season and the domestic league tables remained as they are now, Tottenham and Benfica would be the beneficiaries.

However, opposition has been mounting against the plan, with some believing it is too similar to the European Super League proposals, which triggered such fierce opposition within the game.

In addition to this debate, it has also still to be agreed how many pre-Christmas matches the expanded competition should involve.

Alex Burke: The speech at the end of ‘Any Given Sunday’

I love this Alex. Great shout. Anyone else? If Jesse Marsch is giving Leeds' players a dossier of inspirational material, what would get you battling?

And here's some of the Any Given Sunday speech for starters. Over to you Al Pacino...

"You know, when you get old in life things get taken from you. I mean that's...part of life. But, you only learn that when you start losing stuff. You find out life’s this game of inches. So is football.

"Because in either game, life or football, the margin for error is so small -- I mean one-half a step too late, or too early, and you don’t quite make it. One-half second too slow, too fast, you don’t quite catch it.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They’re in every break of the game, every minute, every second.

"On this team, we fight for that inch. On this team, we tear ourselves and everyone else around us to pieces for that inch."

  18. Frank wants action and not talkpublished at 11:28 British Summer Time 10 May 2022

Watford v Everton (Wed, 19:45 BST)

    Everton

I'd say the message from Frank Lampard is clear - keep going.

He has used this news conference to bat away questions on individual players or their futures and he's also moved to not rest on back-to-back wins. If he's sending one thought out into the universe it's very much that the job is not done.

"It doesn't matter what we think now," he says. "What matters is we keep doing the things that have helped us perform in this recent run of games. We have always performed well at Goodison. Away has been the problem. Now there's a feeling in the group, back-to-back wins, it was important for us. All the players need to do is continue with the mindset of the moment.

"All this togetherness talk and passion talk, it's all important but so is going out on the pitch and being disciplined in how you want to play. As much as we talk about the things round us. Tomorrow night we have to approach it in the right way."

  19. 'Success impossible without unity'published at 11:24 British Summer Time 10 May 2022

Watford v Everton (Wed, 19:45 BST)

    Everton

"Getting one result doesn't mean you get more," Frank Lampard continues.

"The team are together in every moment, we fought, had good chances and individuals played good games.

"That is what gets you good results away in the league. To consistently do that is the challenge.

"From my experience, you only win or have relative success with togetherness. That's players staff, owners, fans, boards everybody. The levels we are playing at, it's nigh on impossible to have success without that.

"It's been one of the hardest challenges for me. How you rebuild parts of that. There have been a lot of steps to it."

  20. Delph to stay?published at 11:22 British Summer Time 10 May 2022

Watford v Everton (Wed, 19:45 BST)

    Everton

Frank Lampard is asked about the future of Fabian Delph.

The 32-year-old is out of contract this summer but has recently featured more regularly and impressed.

"He knows how I feel about him," says Lampard. "It's a decision that is between firstly him, secondly me and thirdly the club and how it comes together. Now is not the time for that one."
