  1. 'No way can we relax'published at 11:20 British Summer Time 10 May 2022

Watford v Everton (Wed, 19:45 BST)

    Everton

More from Everton manager Frank Lampard: "The only message for us is as much as he enjoyed the weekend, it's very dangerous now to relax on that. We can talk about fans and atmosphere. As players and staff, the only message now is to finish the job. There is absolutely no way we can relax."

  2. 'There is work to do'published at 11:18 British Summer Time 10 May 2022

Watford v Everton (Wed, 19:45 BST)

    Everton

Frank Lampard is at pains to stress Everton's recent form is not enough to stay in the Premier League and that there is a need to keep going.

"My mood has definitely lifted," he says. "It is what football does to you. Tough results are difficult. We are all human. The important thing is to stay balanced. Yes the mood has lifted, tap into the good side of that. Then guard against the fact that can bring an over confidence. It's important we have a good mood but understand there is work to do.

"These players are good lads. They want the best for this club. Now they are getting some rewards for the attitude."

  3. Mina misses out...published at 11:12 British Summer Time 10 May 2022

Watford v Everton (Wed, 19:45 BST)

    Everton

Frank Lampard reveals Vitaliy Mykolenko will be fit for Wednesday's trip to Watford but Yerri Mina will miss out after going off in Sunday's win at Leicster.

"Vitaliy Mykolenko is good. He had cramp in his calf," says Lampard.

"Yerri Mina has a small injury so will not be playing in this game. We are probably looking now towards the last game for Yerri. Michel Keane was great when he came on at Leicester. It's never easy coming into a game with pressure 20 minutes in.

"Donny van de Beek is not ready, we are hoping he will be OK for next week's game. Ben Godfrey is working with every ounce to be fit for the run in."

  4. Lampard's thanks...published at 11:09 British Summer Time 10 May 2022

Watford v Everton (Wed, 19:45 BST)

    Everton

"The support we have had since I've been here has been incredible. It has ramped up in the last few weeks. We needed that. We are very thankful. At the same time we have to win matches on the pitch."

    BBC Sport

What a turnaround it has been for Everton in the last two fixtures.

Prior to their game against Chelsea, they were five points adrift, but now after wins over Thomas Tuchel's side and a precious away win at Leicester, they are a point clear of Burnley and Leeds with a great chance to extend that difference further at Watford on Wednesday night.

Frank Lampard is up next to tell us if his side can achieve a third successive Premier League win.

Ian Blick: It’s a bit long winded but for a barnstorming bit of motivation you can’t beat the St Crispin’s day speech from Henry V, especially ‘we happy few, we band of brothers’.

Nice work Ian. I've just read this. Like you say, it's probably bit long to paste in the live text but it definitely gets the mind working.

We want to know what you'd each read, write, watch as your inspiration before a big game. See our last few posts from Jesse Marsch to see why we're doing this. Basically the Leeds boss says he has a dossier on motivational resources for players.

  11. Postpublished at 10:49 British Summer Time 10 May 2022

That's the fill from Jesse Marsch. Next up we will go to his relegation rival.... Mr Lampard.

    That's coming soon.

  12. 'The video balance'published at 10:49 British Summer Time 10 May 2022

Leeds v Chelsea (Wed, 19:30 BST)

    Leeds United

Jesse Marsch says he has tried to digest the good and bad of Leeds' play in recent months but that making changes based on video can be overwhelming for players, so balance is key.

"In some ways I have felt the last three months I have been a video analyst more than a manager," he adds.

"My wife is tired of me being sat at my computer.

"We have an intelligent group who have tried in every way. It has not been perfect but I think it has to do with everything involved. I have been careful not to overwhelm them and also careful to understand it will not be perfect. I have been careful to introduce less than more on times as I want them to be free on match day to go and play.

"That balancing act for someone very detail orientated is important for me to understand and get right."

  13. 'More from Raphinha'published at 10:47 British Summer Time 10 May 2022

Leeds v Chelsea (Wed, 19:30 BST)

    Leeds United

Leeds boss Jesse Marsch admits he is still trying to find the right mix in order to get the most out of Raphinha.

"I like Raphinha's passion, mentality, personality and desire to win," Marsch adds.

"He is a fantastic talent. We haven't gotten enough out of him, that's the truth. We have tried to find ways to play him wider, to get him around the goal more. Against the best opponents it's not like we will be in the final third for 50% of the game where we can get him on the ball. Playing him at wing back then doesn't always provide him the chance to be in those spaces. We will figure out how to get him the ball more, in space more, on the move more to be dangerous and help the team."

Leeds v Chelsea (Wed, 19:30 BST)

    Leeds United

Jesse Marsch is asked who he takes motivation from in forming his book of quotes.

"Muhammad Ali, Michael Jordan, Phil Jackson. Vince Lombardi," he says.

"There are a lot. I have used in the past the 1998 French football team. I have used the 2008 basketball gold medal team. For me I love basketball culture in America. The way they combine inner-city kids with university graduates and incredible mentors, is amazing.

"I use things that resonate with me.

"Then there are historical figures, Gandhi, Mother Teresa, presidents like JFK. People who I think have meant something to where we are. I like leadership books and was a history major in university."

  17. Marsch outlines motivation methods...published at 10:35 British Summer Time 10 May 2022

Leeds v Chelsea (Wed, 19:30 BST)

    Leeds United

Leeds manager Jesse Marsch says he has an archive of material he uses to motivate players. The American says he works out what a player may need at a specific time.

"I have 52 articles, excerpts from books, that I sometimes give players when I think they need something," he says.

"Then I have hundreds of quotes that I use at different moments. I try to think how they fit with who I am and how we play football. I love quotes, learning from people of the past. Sports figures, historical figures, whatever. The key is understanding what messages to use at the right time.

"Here we are in the stress of relegation trying to stay strong with our belief, mentality."

  19. Marsch on a '12-year vision'published at 10:29 British Summer Time 10 May 2022

Leeds v Chelsea (Wed, 19:30 BST)

    Leeds United

Leeds manager Jesse Marsch is asked about the stress of the relegation battle.

He says: "I am calm. Obviously I am so focused on exactly what we are doing here. My vision wasn't 12 games. It's over years.

"The first step of my vision is staying up. I believe this club deserves it and has earned it. We have to earn it in the moment right now. Stress doesn't help. That's the situation we are in. Our ability to remove that and continue to go forward, eliminate the pressures of what it is. This is why I love our fans. I think that they get it.

"This is what pushes us. The people who are positive and behind us. We will use that tomorrow night for sure."

  20. 'He is all in'published at 10:26 British Summer Time 10 May 2022

Leeds v Chelsea (Wed, 19:30 BST)

    Leeds United

Leeds winger Raphinha drew scrutiny for his pursuit of the referee when Luke Ayling was sent off at Arsenal.

"I see a person who is 100% invested in what we are doing here," says Marsch. "His emotion can be seen as lack of discipline. I look at it as investment. He is all in."
