    Cardiff City 0-0 Norwich City

We're approaching half-time at the Cardiff City Stadium and we're still to see either team create any real stand-out chance in front of goal.

Milot Rashica almost makes a break behind Cardiff's line for Norwich, but the offside flag is raised against him.

What a way to mark your debut!

Harry Darling thunders home an absolute beauty from long range for the Swans to level the scores.

    Not bad for a centre-back.

    Millwall 1-0 Stoke City

Stoke try and find a way back into this match before half-time as Tyrese Campbell gets the first shot on target for his team.

Campbell takes a shot from distance, which Bartosz Bialkowski saves in front of goal after initially almost spilling the shot.

    Blackburn 1-0 QPR

Ben Brereton-Diaz had a fine season last time out and he fancies it again today.

The Chile international forces a decent save from Seny Dieng in the QPR goal as the home side search for a quickfire second.

Stockport County 0-3 Barrow AFC. Billy Waters curling home.

How many people had that score after 36 minutes?

Stockport have a sizeable budget and have been heavily backed by pundits - one game doesn't make or break a season but this certainly wasn't expected.

WHAT A GOAL! An absolute beauty at Ewood Park. A well placed curling shot into the top corner from the new captain, Lewis Travis.

Andi Weimann scores for Bristol CityImage source, PA Media

Without Andi Weimann's goals last season you wonder where Bristol City would have been.

When he's on form, he's a hard player to play against.

  8. goal

GOAL: Blackburn 1-0 QPRpublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 30 July 2022

    Lewis Travis (34 mins)

QPR clear the ball as far as Blackburn captain Lewis Travis 25 yards out and his well hit shot beats Seny Dieng in the R's goal.

So far so good for new Rovers boss Jon Dahl Tomasson.

  9. 'Norwich need to be patient'published at 15:35 British Summer Time 30 July 2022

    Cardiff 0-0 Norwich

    Mark Walton
Former Norwich keeper on BBC Radio Norfolk

Norwich aren't being direct enough to cause Cardiff any issues, they're trying to go wide and pass it through them but they aren't being clinical enough in their passing.

When they get in their final third they need to be patient.

Could Wycombe be the side to hand out the first thrashing of the new season?

Goals from David Wheeler, Anis Mehmeti and a Josh Scowen belter has the Chairboys 3-0 up at home to Burton.

  11. goal

GOAL: Hull City 0-1 Bristol Citypublished at 15:32 British Summer Time 30 July 2022

    Andi Weimann (29 mins)

Breakthrough for Bristol City and could it be anyone else on the scoresheet other than Andi Weimann??

Kal Naismith is already looking a canny acquisition by Nigel Pearson this summer from Luton. He takes a decent free-kick from the left and sends it into the box and in a move straight from the training ground, Zak Vyner heads it back across the front into the path of Weimann.

With 20 goals last season, Weimann was never going to miss from close range, was he.

    Luton Town 0-0 Birmingham City

Last season when Birmingham visited Luton they thundered to a 5-0 victory and in the return game the Blues secured another 3-0 win, taking their aggregate tally over the Hatters to 8-0.

There's no sign of the score this afternoon reaching quite those dizzying highs, as it remains all square with half hour played and not a huge amount between the two sides.

    Wigan 0-0 Preston

The home side are enjoying the better of this Lancashire derby but no goal to show for it so far.

Josh Magennis is the latest to miss a decent chance as he shoots over after a long throw lands at his feet.

Those who perhaps thought Derby would blow away League One with their deluge of new singings probably haven't watched much football at this level.

The Rams are being roared on by a massive Pride Park crowd but visitors Oxford have had the better of things so far.

Elsewhere, Ipswich are one of the promotion favourites but find themselves behind at home to Bolton - Aaron Morley scoring from the spot.

    Rotherham 1-0 Swansea

Chiedozie Ogbene had scored four goals in 81 league appearances for Rotherham before today.

The Republic of Ireland man opened the scoring for the Millers and nearly has his second of the day but for a great reaction stop from Swans goalkeeper Andy Fisher.

    Stockport 0-2 Barrow

    Joe Thompson
Former Rochdale and Tranmere midfielder on Squad Goals

It's a humbling start for Stockport. You talk about the gap between the National League and League Two, and you can see it right there. Barrow have burst their bubble, and they have spoiled the party.

Dave Challinor will have to pick his boys up because that's not the start they wanted.

Stockport's long-awaited return to the EFL is NOT going their way.

Ben Whitfield has put Barrow 2-0 up at Edgeley Park and they're very much playing the role of party poopers.

The other newly promoted side, Grimsby, are goalless at Leyton Orient - though Michee Efete has drawn a great save from O's keeper Lawrence Vigouroux.

    Cardiff City 0-0 Norwich City

Just as we write that Norwich have been under the cosh in South Wales, Todd Cantwell has the best chance of the match so far and almost puts the Canaries ahead.

He breaks into the Cardiff half and curls the ball towards the bottom right corner from range, forcing Ryan Allsop to make a very good save to deny him.

  19. Postpublished at 15:20 British Summer Time 30 July 2022

    Cardiff City 0-0 Norwich City

Cardiff have seven debutants in their starting 11 this afternoon and Steve Morrison's overhaul of the squad this summer so far looks to be paying off.

There's not been a raft of clear cut chances yet, but the Bluebirds have been enjoying the better of possession and getting the ball forward on the break a lot more than Norwich.
