What a first-half for Aberdeen.

Declan Gallagher's return to the north-east was short-lived as he was sent off for a double booking after 23 minutes.

His second yellow came for a deliberate handball in the box, with Bojan Miovski tucking in the resultant penalty before a sneaky poacher's finish doubled his tally.

The pick of the bunch was from debutant Leighton Clarkson, an early substitute, who struck an arrowed effort into the top corner just before the break.

Over 80% possession, over 300 passes, yet no goals for the visitors.

Ross County are well-versed in frustrating Celtic in recent times and they've working so hard to close down the champions.

Jota, Maeda, and Matt O'Riley all went close for Celtic on multiple occasions but failed to convert.

The home side's relentless pressing can only last for so long surely...

Rangers have had the possession, they've had a couple of openings but so far a goal eludes them.

Tom Lawrence came closest, his volley hitting the crossbar.

Maeda goes close right on the stroke of half-time with his flicked attempt heading for the back of the net, only to be denied by an excellent reflex save from County keeper Ross Laidlaw.

St Johnstone are on course for their first win of the season courtesy of Jamie Murphy's smartly taken goal in a helter-skelter first half.

Murphy swept low beyond Liam Kelly after a deft Theo Bair flick sent him scooting in on goal. Bair spurned a similar opportunity moments earlier, with Drey Wright also seeing an effort deflected wide.

Motherwell have been poor. They've offered little in attack, and their distribution at the back has been sloppy. They did come very close to levelling when Connor Shields' half-volley struck a post, but that was a rare chance.

Callum Davidson's team are in command and hold a deserved lead at the break.

As half-time approaches Celtic are beginning to step it up.

Matt O'Riley is slipped through on goal but his shot his blocked by an excellent sliding tackle from Jack Baldwin.

The ball is recycled back into the box and O'Riley heads wide.

Another Scott Wright effort and another save from Sam Walker. This time, it's a curling effort that the goalkeeper catches. That's just the hosts' second effort on target.

Celtic come again as Kyogo and Jota combine well just outside the penalty area before the former's shot is well saved by Ross Laidlaw.

Matt O'Riley then slices his volleyed attempt wide on the follow up.

So close to a St Johnstone second!

Graham Carey swerves in a towering, deep free-kick from the left, a Saints head knocks it back across the face, and Andy Considine is inches away from opening his account for the club.

Only a last-ditch flick of the leg from Paul McGinn prevents the ball reaching the big defender with the goal at his mercy.

Connor Goldson is up for a corner and stays in an attacking area while Rangers keep up the pressure. Malik Tillman cuts the ball back for the defender and his fierce shot hits the side-netting.

Ross County are continuing to frustrate the visitors, with their energetic pressing proving to be particularly effective so far.

So close to number two for Aberdeen... Matty Kennedy's in-swinging corner is glanced across goal by Liam Scales at the front stick, but it goes the wrong side of the back post.

This could be a very long afternoon for St Mirren.

Connor Shields takes aim on the half-volley from the edge of the box, but his low, swerving shot clips the post and bounces away.

That's better from the home side.

For all of their possession, which is sitting at around 80% at the moment, Celtic haven't fashioned many clear-cut chances.

A whipped cross was well dealt with by Jack Baldwin before Maeda fails to keep his header down as it sails over the bar.
