Wonderful finish from Fernandes. The game was just starting to tick over again but United stepped up the tempo, a couple of crisp passes.

Elanga drove into the middle, and then there was a great little comeback for Fernandes to slot home. Good goal.

United are on course to win back-to-back league games for the first time since February.

First yellow of the game and it goes to Diogo Dalot.

Then a big chance for United. Anthony Elanga has the ball at his feet inside the Saints box but Armel Bella-Kotchap pulls off a fine challenge to deny a shooting chance.

United are in behind Southampton's defence and it's Scott McTominay with a chance to fire the visitors ahead.

The second half is set up nicely.

Nobody has been able to capitalise on the chances that have come so far.

Lawrence: Fernandes is so nearly a good player, but so often ends up costing United dearly. I say bring on Casemiro and Fred for Fenandes and Mctominay, and play Fred further forward.

Matthew: What am I watching? Why can’t we bring the same energy as last week? The back line looks solid. Pressing is lacklustre. And Rashford?

Craig: It's almost like Jose Mourinho - one of the most successful coaches in football - knew what he was talking about when he said Rashford cannot play in the centre, despite what Rashford thinks.

Brian: Rather than Liverpool showing how good United are, that game showed how much the opposition were off form. Brentford and now Southampton have shown United that they are currently not a Premier League side. Erik ten Hag must worry he's made a mistake.
