  1. Maupay misses out because of Bank Holidaypublished at 19:35 British Summer Time 30 August 2022

    Alistair Magowan
    BBC Sport at Elland Road

So the reason Neal Maupay is not in the Everton is squad is down to the bank holiday.

Premier League rules mean that players must be registered by midday of the last working day before a match. So even though the French forward was registered by 4pm on Friday, the weekend and the bank holidays are not classed as working days according to the Premier League.

Which is strange, given that many people in football would have been working on those days!

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Brentford

Crystal Palace are dominating possession in these first few minutes but the home side are almost caught out on the counter as a long ball sends Bryan Mbeumo away. He gets into the box before trying to feed Ivan Toney, but Palace get back to defend and concede a corner, which comes to nothing.

    Fulham 0-0 Brighton

This has been a lively start from the hosts. Andreas Pereira goes down as a challenge comes in on the edge of the Brighton box by Moisés Caicedo. Nothing given. There was a roar from the crowd, who wanted a penalty.

  4. 'Gallagher a level below Chelsea'published at 19:34 British Summer Time 30 August 2022

    Southampton v Chelsea (19.45)

    Stephen Warnock
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

One thing Conor Gallagher will not have is a shortage of takers, he is an extremely good player.

There are levels of players, and he is just below Champions League level. He is a great Premier League player, but will he take that Chelsea midfield to the next level? I don't think he would.

Gallagher will be ambitious and want to prove himself, but it can be frustrating to be a bit part player, and hard to maintain your form.

Andy: Genuinely cannot believe Everton are going in to the 5th game without a striker. Absolutely criminal from the board, after the support the fans have given to the club and it is being thrown back in their face. Just gifting opposition a free hit.

    Fulham 0-0 Brighton

Good start from Fulham. They work it well down the left, it's whipped into the middle and a foul on the far side gives Andreas Pereira an opportunity to send in a free-kick.

  9. 'I'd take Eze at Liverpool'published at 19:31 British Summer Time 30 August 2022

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Brentford

    Stephen Warnock
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

You would have turned off the TV rather than watch Palace a couple of years ago. Now Vieira has got them playing such entertaining football. [Ebere] Eze is scintillating. I told Mark Lawrenson, I would take him at Liverpool.

What Vieira did by going to America in his coaching career is it allowed him to learn, to make mistakes. He got that opportunity, and now we are seeing the rewards.

    Matt Jarvis
Former Wolves & Norwich winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's all about the base for Brighton - Dunk and Webster have been outstanding. They have not made any silly mistakes, the team have got forward and they have taken their chances.

  13. Sutton's predictionpublished at 19:28 British Summer Time 30 August 2022

    Leeds v Everton (20:00 BST)

For this week's fixtures, Chris Sutton is up against Tom Dowse, guitarist with post-punk band Dry Cleaning, and an Arsenal fan.

I feel Leeds will bounce back from the loss at the weekend to Brighton. They were one of my tips for relegation but they were so good when they beat Chelsea, playing with such intensity and were in the game against Brighton and I think Jesse Marsch will have them raring to bounce back.

As for Everton, I am just amazed they never replaced Richarlison. They were unlucky with Dominic Calvert-Lewin's injury and then have cobbled a team together. Neal Maupay has come in now from Brighton and they got a good point against Brentford but I think they will lose this one.

    Sutton's prediction: 2-0.

Tom's prediction: I was surprised to see Leeds pick up a few points at the start of the season but I am backing them here, because Everton aren't very good at all. 2-0

  15. 'Negative environment at Bournemouth'published at 19:24 British Summer Time 30 August 2022

    Tony Pulis
Former Stoke manager on BBC Radio 5 Live

I don't think it's the defeats, it's the environment Scott has surrounded himself in, it's very negative and will have got through to the players and the board.

When I was at Stoke, I moaned like a drain at times but you have to get on with it, and get results on Saturday. The Bournemouth owners will have looked at it and decided Scott is not the man to do that.

    Southampton v Chelsea (19:45 BST)

For this week's fixtures, Chris Sutton is up against Tom Dowse, guitarist with post-punk band Dry Cleaning, and an Arsenal fan.

Chelsea walloped Southampton last season, winning 6-0. Southampton I felt were a bit unlucky at the weekend against Manchester United. I did predict a United win but I didn't predict a correct score.

Southampton are just such a strange team, I do like the way they play but I think Thomas Tuchel's side will edge this one.

    Sutton's prediction: 1-2

Tom's prediction: Chelsea have looked very strong in the first few weeks of the season. In contrast, Southampton have been pretty bad. 0-3

  18. No Maupay in Everton squadpublished at 19:21 British Summer Time 30 August 2022

    Leeds v Everton (20:00 BST)

    Alistair Magowan
    BBC Sport at Elland Road

It's a surprise that there is no Neal Maupay in the Everton team or squad, following the forward's £15m move from Brighton on Friday.

Word here is that the paperwork got held up. But we should get confirmation from manager Frank Lampard, who will not be best pleased.

His side needs as much support up front as it is can get.

    • Leeds United are looking to win their opening three home league games in a season for the first time since 2009-10 in League One.
    • Everton have failed to win any of their opening four Premier League games this season (D2 L2). The Toffees have only had longer winless starts to two Premier League campaigns, in 1994-95 (12 games) and 2010-11 (six).
    • Rodrigo is looking to become the first Leeds player to score in their first three home league games in a season since Luciano Becchio in 2012-13 and the first in the top flight since Lee Chapman in 1992-93.
    • Anthony Gordon has had 11 of Everton’s 23 shots on target in the Premier League this season (48%) and is looking to find the net in consecutive top-flight games for the first time, after scoring against Brentford on Saturday.
  20. Dyche to Bournemouth?published at 19:19 British Summer Time 30 August 2022

    Tony Pulis
Former Stoke manager on BBC Radio 5 Live

You have the option to pick someone with real experience. Dychey [Sean Dyche] has been mentioned, but I'm not sure Bournemouth would suit him or he would suit Bournemouth.
