The team will need him today. He is playing up front with Raheem Sterling. the two of them will need some help as West Ham under David Moyes are always very solid and difficult to break down.

Ryan Flint: On paper, that Chelsea line-up, even the bench, looks fierce already without all the deadwood clogging up the bench.

Femi Atoyebi: Good to see Mason Mount and Kai Havertz not starting this game. Thomas Tuchel has finally seen what the fans have been saying since last few matches. Eyes on Edouard Mendy, hope he keeps his composure playing out from the back.

Harry Kane wins the ball on the left wing and feeds Ryan Sessegnon, who goes down in the box under pressure from Joao Palhinha.

Referee says no penalty and VAR, after a quick check, agree with him.

Fulham break into the Spurs box but Hugo Lloris is off his line to stop Bobby De Cordova-Reid having a chance.

It's a blustery but mild day at St James' Park but the fans are certainly making themselves heard as the hosts attack the Gallowgate End.

The Bees look for a fast start and it takes a Pascal Struijk header in the middle to clear Rico henry's cross.

They come again and Vitaly Janelt swings the ball into the mixer, only for a foul to end their hopes of an early goal.

Raheem Sterling surges forward for Chelsea but England team-mate Declan Rice wins the ball off him and tries to start a Hammers counter.

The additions West Ham have made and the money they have spent will put added pressure on David Moyes to try to improve from last year, which was a fantastic season for them.

It will be interesting to see how their new signings adapt to the Premier League.

Everton manager Frank Lampard speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "An amazing game - very intense, good quality, lots of chances for both teams and incredible performances from both goalkeepers. It's my first experience of a derby day at Goodison and the atmosphere was brilliant and the spirit and work of our players. Liverpool are a great team and we are at the beginning of the process, we're working hard, spirit, hard work and quality and we're playing better, we will get better.

"We wanted to be more aggressive in our approach off the ball, we didn't want to succumb to their pressure and I thought we did that well but they will always pin you back at times. But we stuck to the game plan, the desire to stay in the game and create our own chances. I'm happy with a point because of the chances they had but I'm very happy with the team and how we're going.

"Jordan [Pickford] gets fingertips on a few bits today which a lot of keepers don't get and Allison the same, two top class keepers. I've relied on Jordan a lot he's an amazing keeper and we're fortunate to have a player of this level.

"I think we can want more because of the performances, they have deserved more, there's no point harping on about things though the positive side is the way we're going and the new players - we're going to get better. You can't always affect the result because of certain situations but you can affect your performance."

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "Ali had to make an insane save from Maupay. For me, the ball was already in.

"After Wednesday it was really tough. These games are rarely for people who love the most beautiful football, because both teams have to fight like crazy. It was just super intense.

"We created a lot of chances and especially with the timing of our last goal [against Newcastle], it feels like we lost two points. The best moments they had were from counter-attacks after we were in their box. Our positioning for the second ball wasn’t great.

"The situation we’re in right now is not a dream. It’s good that players are coming back, but we have to make sure we use them in the right manner.

"It’s not the start we wanted. Six games and nine points is not exactly a dream, but those are the points we’ve got and let’s go from there. If we get through these moments together we have a chance to create better moments in the future."
