    Crystal Palace 1-0 Chelsea

Thiago Silva pings his second good ball over the top today. Ben Chilwell runs into the box and meets it with a looping header which Vicente Guaita catches. Actually Chilwell is offside, like Raheem Sterling was for the other Silva ball.

    Leandro Trossard (18 mins)

    WOW.

Danny Welbeck is away on the right. It comes into the box, Solly March touches it on to Leandro Trossard and he smashes it past Alisson and into the far corner.

Liverpool look absolutely stunned. This is brilliant stuff from Brighton.

  3. Liverpool need to sharpen uppublished at 15:16 British Summer Time 1 October 2022

    Liverpool 0-1 Brighton

    Gary Rose
    BBC Sport at Anfield

This is worrying so far for Liverpool. They are making poor mistakes and panicking as Brighton attack in numbers and the Reds need to click into gear quickly.

The hope for them is that Brighton have looked nervous at the back themselves sometimes, so chances will come, but the home side have to sharpen up at the back.

Nick: Defending like that is why Southgate doesn’t play Trent Alexander-Arnold. Shocking from both him and Henderson. Liverpool’s captain letting himself get outmuscled, then Trent deciding that simply existing near Troasard may be enough to count as defending. Woeful.

  11. 'Welbeck has got to score'published at 15:13 British Summer Time 1 October 2022

    Liverpool 0-1 Brighton

    Steve Stone
Former England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

It was another great move from Brighton who worked their way up the pitch and got the ball out to Solly March, who delivered a great ball into the box.

Danny Welbeck has got to score from six yards out.

Brighton look comfortable - they are stroking the ball around like they are the home team.

  12. GREAT SAVE!published at 15:13 British Summer Time 1 October 2022

    Liverpool 0-1 Brighton

Alisson is single-handedly keeping Liverpool in this. He has to make another huge save to deny Leandro Trossard from close range after Danny Welbeck had managed to bundle through in the box.

Brighton are absolutely all over Liverpool at Anfield.

  13. Postpublished at 15:12 British Summer Time 1 October 2022

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Chelsea

Palace go close again! Eberechi Eze plays a one-two from the corner and hammers in a low shot from a very tight angle which goes just wide of the far post.

The hosts have had 23.2% of the ball, but all three shots.

  17. Postpublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 1 October 2022

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Chelsea

It's almost 2-0! Eberechi Eze blasts one in from 20 yards and Kepa does well to get down low and save it with one hand. The Chelsea keeper just about puts Wilfried Zaha off from doing something with the rebound.

  18. Postpublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 1 October 2022

    Liverpool 0-1 Brighton

    Stephen Warnock
Former England defender on Final Score

Brighton have started well and dominated position. They are findiing it easy to keep hold of the ball. It was a lovely finish from Leandro Trossard.

Jurgen Klopp has tried to protect Trent Alexander-Arnold in the press and build his confidence back up.

Initial header should have been dealt better with by Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, not strong enough and Brighton wanting more.

  19. CLOSE!published at 15:10 British Summer Time 1 October 2022

    Liverpool 0-1 Brighton

Another HUGE chance for Brighton. Solly March is given all the time in the world to pick out Danny Welbeck. He finds him but Welbeck's header, relatively unmarked, is straight at Alisson.

Liverpool are all over the place.
