After only eight minutes, Fulham are down to 10 men. Nathaniel Chalobah is the man sent off after a reckless sliding lunge on Sean Longstaff, which catches the Newcastle man on the ankle.

Referee Darren England initially shows the Fulham player a yellow, the official gets a message from VAR to check it on the pitchside monitor and we all know what happens next. Chalobah off, Newcastle with a man advantage.

Liverpool have picked up the tempo since going behind. Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold link-up in the box with some nice touches but it won't fall for Mohamed Salah.

Well what a start for new Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi!

The Italian tried to keep his emotions in check, clenching his fists and thrusting them forward but otherwise keeping calm.

That's the message he then relays to his players. On the five previous occasions a manager has made his debut away at Anfield it has ended in defeat for them, so a long way to go yet.

The Brighton fans, who have had long distance and travel disruptions to contend with, are in excellent voice.

Brighton got to the second ball first, seized their opportunity and got it to Leandro Trossard who smacked it into the bottom corner with a great finish.

He's an accomplished finisher.

Bournemouth are still on the back foot as they defend successive corners. Ivan Toney wants a penalty as he feels his shirt is being tugged when the latest one is curled in.

Trouble for Newcastle's Joe Willock as he had been clattered on his right ankle in a strong challenge from Kevin Mbabu of Fulham.

Willock, after some treatment, is able to carry on.

Kieran Trippier takes the free-kick from deep, it falls to Dan Burn and his shot is pushed out by Bernd Leno and Callum Wilson then hits the post with the rebound. Fulham survive.

Palace have had 9.3% possession so far. And I'm surprised it's that much.

Brentford have had the early possession. It's fizzed in dangerously from the left by Mikkel Damsgaard and Neto has to push it behind.

A bright start for Everton as Alex Iwobi surges down the left wing, he crosses but Amadou Onana can't do too much with it and it loops up safely into the hands of home goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu.

Chelsea forward Raheem Sterling is offside as he runs onto Thiago Silva's ball over the top and his volley is at the Palace keeper anyway.

The Blues are playing a 4-2-3-1 at the start of this game.

There was a well-observed minute's silence before kick-off for the queen. This is the first Premier League game for either side since 3 September, before her death.

Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta speaking to BBC Sport: "The players grabbed the game and deserved to win the it. It was the whole team - starting from the back to front. They really connected today.

"I hope this will give them more belief that they can win at this level in the way we want them to play.

"We have connected with our supporters and when that happens it is a really powerful thing.

"We have a really meaningful opportunity to give a lot of people happiness on a beautiful day and we have delivered that and it is a really great feeling.

"We are focussing on what we are doing. This is a sign that we are going in the right direction. We need to maintain that now and go for it.

"You feel the desire and humility - they haven't won anything yet and that is important to have that humility, which is a big driver for us."

A new-look Brighton then. Not the usual three at the back but a traditional back four. What can they do against Liverpool under new management? We're about to find out.

Its going to be fun and exciting. Brighton play attractive and attacking football, but having not worked with the players long Roberto De Zerbi might not tinker with things too much.

Jurgen Klopp has called it almost a fresh start for Liverpool, its time to crack on and collect points, but Brighton is in a better position.

Arsenal

"But we didn't have that in the back of our mind, we were free, courageous and brave and this is what we demand from the players. It gives us a lot of encouragement and confidence to believe that we can play at this level."
