This will be Erik Ten Hag’s first derby in charge of Manchester United.

Each of the five previous United managers to take charge of one in the league have lost their first.

They include David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick.

Sir Alex Ferguson was the last Manchester United manager to win his first derby in March 1987.

Let's talk about Erling Haaland then...

He has netted 100 goals in 99 club appearances in all competitions, including 12 goals in seven games for City.

He has scored from each of his last six Premier League shots on target at the Etihad.

Erling Haaland has been in sensational form, scoring 14 goals in 10 games in all competitions.

But Erik ten Hag insists United are not just focusing on the Norway striker as a threat.

"I like his attitude, how he is on the pitch. He's direct, his life is about goals - he goes direct toward the opponent," said Ten Hag.

"I respect him but we are not playing against Haaland, we are playing against Manchester City.

"And it is not about Manchester City for us. We respect the opponent but it is about Manchester United."

Father certainly has plenty doscuss about his son, who has had a stunning impact on the Premier League since his summer move from Borussia Dortmund.

He may have even more to talk about after this Manchester derby.

Former Manchester United midfield man Roy Keane, who had two explosive confrontations with Haaland senior in their playing days, was standing not too far away but it all went off without incident.

Mike: It's weird, I can't work out whether we'll get battered 4-0 or nail City on the counter and win 2-1....

Anon: United will easily beat this City line-up today. I predict 2-3 scoreline after 90 minutes. Haaland to score an own goal. Obviously, I am a Manchester United fan.

This season Kevin de Bruyne has registered six assists and 25 chances created, both league highs.

He has been directly involved in 30 goals in his last 30 Premier League starts, scoring 16 and assisting 14.

The most important thing about this game today is concentration. We can talk about Erling Haaland but there is quality throughout the whole Manchester City team. If you give them time, just half an inch, they will produce something. Kevin De Bruyne's passing is unbelievable.

From a Manchester United point of view, the fact that Rodri's not playing is actually good news. He leads the stats of most passes in the Premier League. Manchester City keep the ball well and it's frustrating not to have the ball so when Rodri is not playing, part of that supply line is not there and that is very important.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag to Sky Sports: "It is about us and developing our game. We need to win, we need a result, that will bring confidence.

"We want to play our game but I know they want to dictate the game and are good at that. We will see it is about the battle on the field.

"[Marcus Rashford] trained well and returned to team training. I think we took the right steps and he is fit.

"They will miss [Rodri] but they still have a very good XI on the pitch. We will have to deal with it.

"We have to play our best. When we follow the rules, the principles, then we have a chance to win this game. Details will make the difference."
