Manchester United

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag to BBC Match of the Day: "The performance was good, a clean sheet, we pressed well, we controlled the game and in stages we were good on the ball - especially in the second half.

"Then, we dictated the game and in the end we could - we should - have score the winning goal. One from Fred, and then [Marcus] Rashford had to score.

"In the end we could have got the win, we deserved the win, and it is a big compliment to the team that we deserved this with a physical performance against one of the most physical teams in the league. They [Newcastle players] all had cramp and we kept going.

"The team understands from front to back we cooperate together. We are hard to beat and we must keep that going."

Southampton

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl, speaking to Sky Sports: "One point is not enough. I think when you lead and give it away, it's not good, but we had problems in the second half with closing them down. We defended 20 set-pieces today against a good side, it's not so easy.

"We threw everything in but footballing wise in the second half we can play much better. First half was OK I think, but we need the second or third goal and the chances were there in the first half.

"No clean sheet again but the pressure from the opponent in the second half was high."

On seeing out a draw after West Ham pressure: "We tried everything. It was not so easy to stop them. As I said, we played better in the first half."

Does it give Saints a springboard for Bournemouth game? "We have to go there and make it better and play like we have in the first half here. Hopefully with more clinical finishes and a clean sheet, we will have the chance to take three points against a good, in-form team."

The corner is played short and it comes to nothing. Arsenal have managed to kill a few more minutes though.

Pep Guardiola has done a great job with Phil Foden. He’s been managed phenomenally well at Manchester City and you’re starting to see the very best of him in terms of his consistency of goals and assists which is what he needs to bring to this team.

Gabriel Martinelli does really well to win a free-kick near the left corner in Leeds' half as he weaves in and out of a few challenges before getting clipped by Rasmus Kristensen.

Boos at the final whistle for Villa, who played well in the first half. Boss Steven Gerrard was then booed again as he headed down the tunnel.

The second half was a disappointment, but Villa were let down by two errors from Tyrone Mings and Emiliano Martinez. Results haven't been great, and performances have failed to inspire but if Villa can channel that first half, and find the net, then results should improve.

Newcastle United

Joelinton had the two chances when he hit the woodwork, we could potentially have had a penalty for the challenge on Callum Wilson. We lost our way really in the second half and I'm glad the full time whistle has gone.

"The [Marcus] Rashford header is a big moment. We did really well to contain them but that's the one that possibly could have lost us the game but the players didn't deserve that."

On one defeat in 10 games: "Yeah you'd take that. It's been a very positive start to the season, the players have given everything and that's all you can ask for. The team spirit is very high at the moment.

"Every team needs a solid base. I also have to compliment the guys in front, we have some really good athletes who break up play. You want goals at the other end but I believe we have players that can hurt teams."

Neill: Arsenal are accused of being soft...when they toughen up they're accused of 'dark arts'...they can't win.

Jake: Everyone complaining about Arsenal players.... did you also complain about Van Dijk trying to knock the ball out of Saka's hand before our penalty last week? Thought not....!
