  1. 'Nunez has so much potential'published at 22:20 British Summer Time 19 October 2022

    FT: Liverpool 1-0 West Ham

    Liverpool

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk on his team earning three straight wins for the first time this season: "We got the win, that's the most important thing. We're buzzing with the clean sheet.

"They put four strikers on, Soucek went up top as well and you have to defend as good as you can. We showed that in the last game and again today.

On goalkeeper Alisson after his penalty save: "We play for one of the biggest clubs in the world and to have this goalkeeper with us is something we need and it was a great moment to save that penalty just before the break.

"It is important to keep a clean sheet and a produce a good performance, especially in the first half when we could have scored a second goal. It is all about the three points, especially in this hectic period.

On Liverpool's match-winner Darwin Nunez: "I think he has so much potential. He is still young and he's learning, he's learning the way to play and learning English. He is a modern-day striker which causes a lot of defenders problems.

"You could see today his runs in behind and his build up play getting better. We have different weapons to try and exploit opponents, it is good."

    FT: Man Utd 2-0 Tottenham

    Jonathan Woodgate
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Tottenham didn't look to press, their midfield three didn't really get a kick. Tonight they didn't really have anything and they couldn't cope with Man United's midfield three. At times Lloris was outstanding.

    FT: Man Utd 2-0 Tottenham

Antonio Conte has now lost all four of his visits to Old Trafford.

There was no ambition from his team in that game, sitting back and inviting the opposition on to them and they were made to pay in the end.

A huge opportunity missed to move just one point behind Premier League leaders and bitter rivals Arsenal.

  5. 'The feeling is we have dropped two points'published at 22:15 British Summer Time 19 October 2022

    FT: Brentford 0-0 Chelsea

    Chelsea

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, speaking to Prime Video, said: "Every player needs confidence, this push, and for the goalkeepers it is even more important.

"If you are playing in a row of games, it's important for your confidence and I'm playing well, I think. I need to keep going and keep working.

"We're not happy. They had chances and we had chances and in the last 15 minutes we were playing in their box and we had clear opportunities and should score something.

"The feeling is that we have dropped two points and we wanted three points to be fighting with the top clubs."

  6. 'We did fantastically'published at 22:13 British Summer Time 19 October 2022

    FT: Brentford 0-0 Chelsea

    Brentford

Brentford boss Thomas Frank, speaking to Prime Video, says: "The feeling is a strange one as we were playing against Chelsea.

"That day when we got promoted, they won the Champions League final so the difference between the two teams is immense.

"But the performance we had, especially in the first half, we were by far the better team. Overall we should deserve the win, from the 84th minute we were looking a bit tired but I think we did fantastically.

"Kepa [Arrizabalaga] was fantastic. Every time Chelsea come here, their goalkeeper is man of the match. Now we need to recover and I need to find a good starting 11.

"We're going to Villa Park, a really difficult place to go, but we believe we can win."

  7. 'A hard-earned point'published at 22:11 British Summer Time 19 October 2022

    FT: Brentford 0-0 Chelsea

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Graham Potter, speaking to Prime Video, says: "We're always disappointed when we don't win. Over the course of the game a point is fair, they had chances and we pushed at the end.

"It was a tough game against a team that makes it tough. We pushed and pushed and gave it everything. It's not easy with the schedule but we put the effort in and I'm proud of them - it's a hard-earned point.

"There's no rest, we have to keep moving. We've had two away games, Aston Villa and Brentford and four points is not too bad but we wanted to win."

    Newcastle 1-0 Everton

    Alistair Magowan
BBC Sport at St James' Park

A pretty straightforward win for Newcastle, who weren't really tested by Everton. Frank Lampard's side had one effort - Dominic Calvert-Lewin's first half header from a corner - and no shots on target.

Eddie Howe's side briefly moved into fifth, but their fans won't mind if Manchester United stay ahead with the Magpies remaining sixth.

A win over Everton last season in February moved them out of the bottom three. How times have changed.

Jaleel: Manchester United is a team in progress, but you can somewhat tell what the team's identity would be. Spurs under Conte continues to regress; can't play unless it's a 9-1 formation with Son breathing down your neck. Oh, Spurs are just lucky to have him as a manager

Very good game from Fred. He is all action and gives his all even though he makes some daft passes. He gives you everything on the pitch.

    Oh dear.

Knowing he is not coming on, Cristiano Ronaldo has walked off down the tunnel in the 89th minute.

Wonder what Erik ten Hag will make of that.

Man United have beaten Arsenal and Liverpool here, they're on the way to beating Spurs here. Against the bigger teams at Old Trafford they have been really good.

Oliver: Really, really poor from Spurs. A bad night for so many poor individual performances, and hard to understand why Conte didn't change it in the first half.

Andy: It's almost like that after hearing that this is their best start to a season since 1963 Spurs have decided that only the goal keeper needs to put some effort on this evening.

Kier: No manager could have done what Conte did with Spurs last season. Massive respect but to play like this with this squad is really poor and shows his lack of creativity and forward thinking. We will again walk away from this season with little if anything but dull football and spent a lot of money doing so. Spurs should have gone for Potter or Ten Hag when they had the chance.

A double change for United with four minutes remaining.

Anthony Elanga replaces Jadon Sancho while ex-Spurs midfielder Christian Eriksen is on for Casemiro, who was very good in the middle of the park.

Anon: I don't think enough praise is going to Ten Hag for making this team play this well after only a few months. Last season United were struggling to string 3 passes together. Very impressive!

Sam: This is the best I’ve seen Manchester United play in a very long time. Fred is chasing and intercepting like prime Kante. Every player pressing and giving it everything they’ve got. Love to see it. More performances like this please!

Ady: The speed with which United are regaining possession when they lose the ball is something which has been lacking for far too long. The best all round performance I have seen in a long, long time.

Ball, man, stand - everything cleared by Raphael Varane.

And he has hurt Lucas Moura. The Brazilian only just came on.
