Newcastle defender Kieran Trippier, speaking to Amazon Prime: "It was a massive win for us. We've had a good spell recently and we want to keep pushing up the league and competing at the top of the table. We didn't perform to our best today but we grinded out the result.

"Ever since the gaffer has come here, and myself, it has been a positive place to be. We are performing well. The last two games not really, but we are still getting the results we want. Long may that continue."

Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes: "Miggy [Almiron] is an amazing guy. I am really happy because all my assists here have been for him. I am proud of the team, it was a big step for us today."

The lead has been well deserved for Man United. Tottenham have been very sloppy in possession, not pressing like they usually do. The three in midfield for United, Fred, Casemiro and Fernandes, have been terrific.

That incredible challenge by James Milner denied Tomas Soucek a certain equaliser.

West Ham certainly had their chances. Jarrod Bowen's missed penalty and big opportunities for Said Benrahma and Gianluca Scamacca.

The Hammers have scored just nine goals in 11 Premier League games and their lack of spark in front of goal will worry manager David Moyes.

When you're going to be challengers sometimes you have to win ugly and Liverpool have done that. They partially won ugly so well done to them. They're back in the fight at least for the top four.
