Leeds United should have gone further ahead in the game. Good opportunities and great energy. Jesse Marsch has realised how important every little press is and the distances between his strikers. They need to get a result wherever they possibly can.

Crysencio Summerville has had a busy few minutes. He beats Andy Robertson on the right but Virgil van Dijk is there to clear the cross again.

Virgil van Dijk has to come across to block Rasmus Kristensen's cross and he immediately turns back to his team-mates to ask why there was so much space. He's frustrated as Liverpool are still making basic errors at the back.

Harvey Elliott is the latest Liverpool player to play a pass straight to Leeds. The visitors' attack is broken down by Thiago on the edge of the box just as Jack Harrison was trying to find space to shoot.

Patrick Bamford's first involvement is a one-two with Crysencio Summerville. It's easily scooped up by Alisson when Summerville sends the cross in though, but Fabinho's loose touch means Liverpool can't counter-attack. Still being far too sloppy.

Early change for Leeds. Here comes Patrick Bamford. He's on for Rodrigo.

Leeds win their first corner of the match as Tyler Adams' pass is poked behind by Fabinho. Joe Gomez gets his head to it first and Mohamed Salah is then stopped from breaking by Marc Roca.

Slow start to the second half. Neither team really taking a hold of it yet.

Liverpool win it in midfield through Fabinho but Darwin Nunez's low cross is picked up by Illan Meslier.

Trent Alexander-Arnold floats it over to Andy Robertson on the far side. He goes back to Thiago and he slides it through to Darwin Nunez but even he didn't expect it and it rolls under his foot and out for a goal kick.

Gee Em: This could end up 1-1 or 10-10 both sides aren't looking amazing, no ball skills, no defensive organisation, and less tracking back than you'd expect. Could be interesting this second half.

Back under way at Anfield. Can Leeds keep it up and grab a winner? Or will Liverpool turn up the heat?

Phil Sylvester: Liverpool's problems stem from lack of recruitment and lack of strength in depth from the bench, too many players don't have proper competition for their places, get that right and we'll consistently compete with Man City.

Paul: Liverpool are missing Mane but that’s not their only problem. Their midfield is struggling. They spent big money on Nunez (who’s still trying adapt if this game is anything go on) and neglected their midfield. Fabinho alone seems like a shadow of the player he was.

A big save from Illan Meslier to deny Darwin Nunez in that half too and a very good effort from Brenden Aaronson which smacked the crossbar.

Feels like more goals to come. Big half coming up...

Nine shots from Leeds in that half, including three on target. They had six of those shots from inside the box, hit the woodwork once and created two "big chances" according to the stats. They had an expected goals rate of 1.48. Not bad for a visiting team at Anfield sitting second bottom in the table on their arrival.

Liverpool fans might view it differently but that was a very entertaining half of football with good chances for both sides.

Leeds, to their credit, have come here to have a go and they can count themselves unlucky not to be ahead given they have hit the woodwork and drawn some good saves out of Alisson.

Liverpool's main issue has arguably been their passing, which has been very sloppy at times.

They go in at half time with a passing accuracy in the opposition half of 68%. Compare that to Premier League leaders Manchester City, who had 86% passing accuracy in the opponent's half against Leicester earlier today and it shows where they need to be significantly better.

Dean: Brenden Aaronson is just some player, a proper Leeds player, tenacious, energetic and a bit of bite, cracking player.

John: Liverpool haven't replaced Mane at all. That's destroying Liverpool this season so far.

It's been a great game. Liverpool have been very wasteful, but the tempo has just increased.

Leeds have caused this frustration. The pressing has been surreal. High press and high energy level of performance. Liverpool are struggling.

Some big mistakes and a lot of loose possession. Leeds could have scored more, Liverpool need to defend better. All square.

Terrible. Brenden Aaronson completely scuffs it.
