Richard: Almost impossible to watch Liverpool this year. Its like an entirely different team who have never met before.

Nicholas: What is Klopp's excuse for that then? My guess is the moon isn't in the right alignment for this side.

Wow! I thought we'd struggle to see a bigger defensive mix up in this game than that early Leeds one but that is a shocker from Liverpool and, not for the first time this season, they find themselves having to come from behind.

Jesse Marsch holds a finger to the air as the away end goes wild. Long way to go, but what a start for Leeds.

  6. 'It's a red card'published at 19:50 British Summer Time 29 October 2022

    Everton

Everton manager Frank Lampard to Sky Sports: "It was OK from us, just OK. We had bright periods in the game but not loads. Fulham are in good form and you can feel that in the stadium.

"Every game is a different challenge, we are in a process of keeping working and improving. The good news is that last year we would have lost that game - by a couple of goals. Now we have the resilience to block things and get in front of things.

"It's a red card for Aleksandar Mitrovic, a strong challenge above the ankle. It's a challenge you see red cards given for. We should get that decision. I love Mitrovic, I'm not saying there was intent but it's frustrating. That would change the game. If the referee does his job with consistency it's a red card. It could have injured Idrissa Gana Gueye."

    Rodrigo (4 mins)

Well, this is a howler from Joe Gomez!

Gomez robs it off Brenden Aaronson on the left then doesn't even look as he passes it back to Alisson.

It's not on and instead he rolls it straight to Rodrigo to poke over the line from a few yards out.

It's a gift wrapped in gold. Terrible mistake and Leeds are off the mark!

Oops. Not the best start for Leeds at all! Alisson sends it up the field for Mohamed Salah to chase. He's never getting there but goalkeeper Illan Meslier and captain Liam Cooper completely mess it up. The defender heads it back, Meslier has already come out and it goes over him, Salah chases after it and Pascal Struijk has to clear his chipped effort off the line!

Despite the team's precarious position in the table, the Leeds fans are certainly in boisterous mood.

As three sides of Anfield stand for "You'll Never Walk Alone" with their Liverpool scarves raised to the air just before kick off, the away supporters are jeering and chanting "We are Leeds".

Both sets of fans are well up for this. Here's hoping the game delivers.

Fulham manager Marco Silva to BBC Sport: "It's difficult to believe, really. We did almost everything well. Everton played a direct game, we knew that, and they created some moments but we are always on the front foot.

"I am proud of my players, we didn't win the game but we played at a very good level. We have to put the ball in the net and on a normal evening we score more than one goal with these chances.

"Jordan Pickford and their defenders deserve credit, they block everything but we did everything to win. In football we have days like this. It's the first game at home we have not scored, our philosophy and desire is right.

    "Mitro will score next time."

Leeds have lost their last four away league matches against Liverpool, conceding 16 goals.

Fulham boss Marco Silva to Sky Sports: "A really unfair result, definitely. We were the best team on the pitch. We controlled the game and pushed them back, we had 13 corners and we created so many moments inside their box, normally we win this game.

"We played, we believed, we showed the way this evening. We deserved to win but playing like that many more results will come.

"We were not so clinical but give credit to Jordan Pickford as well. Willian said to me he was touched and it was a penalty but I haven't seen it back yet."

  14. Where might we get the goals?published at 19:38 British Summer Time 29 October 2022

    Liverpool v Leeds (19:45 BST)

Mohamed Salah has scored three Premier League goals in 2022-23. His lowest tally in a season for Liverpool by the end of October is five.

Roberto Firmino has provided six goals and three assists in 10 Premier League appearances this campaign.

Patrick Bamford, on the bench for Leeds, is one short of 100 career league goals but has gone 12 league appearances without scoring since his 95th-minute equaliser against Brentford last December.

    Chris Sutton's predictions

Liverpool have been a 'Jekyll and Hyde' side all season and I keep getting them wrong - after they beat Manchester City and West Ham, going to bottom-side Nottingham Forest felt like an open goal for them, but they did not turn up.

They are at home this time, though. I am going to say the Reds will win comfortably and find the spark they have been missing for months.

If they do, then things could get messy for Marsch and his side because their defence is a real cause for concern.

    Sutton's prediction: 6-1

After Liverpool's defeat at Nottingham Forest last week, they are hoping to put in a better performance at home where they remain unbeaten in 29 Premier League matches.

Their 3-0 win in Amsterdam during the week was more typical of Jurgen Klopp's side but they need to back that up against a Leeds team who are struggling down at the bottom.

The nine points Leeds have won so far is the fewest after 11 league games of a season since 2003-04, when they were last relegated from the top flight.

Jesse Marsch's side have suffered four league defeats in a row and their eight-match winless run is currently the longest in the division.

Fulham winger Willian: "We deserved more, we created a lot of chances today. At least we got one point. We should have got at least two goals.

"We are disappointed. We have to go again next week."

Defender Tim Ream: "It's a good performance and on another day we score a couple of goals. But it's another point on the board and a step closer to our target.

"If we keep a clean sheet we give ourselves a chance."

It is always a good thing to experience Anfield under lights, but why is this game kicking off at the rather unusual time of 19:45 BST on a Saturday night?

It is because of a mixture of Liverpool's European commitments and broadcasting rights, as this game was originally due to take place on Sunday, but that would have only given them two days to recover for their Champions League tie versus Napoli.

For Leeds fans coming over, it means they will have had to find an alternative way back to a train as a quick look online at timetables suggests there will be none available by the time this game finishes.
