Sean: Unfortunately Graham Potter is damned if he does and damned if he don't. He is trying to see what he has at his disposal. Let's be honest a lot of these players haven't been great for years in a Chelsea shirt.

    Joe Willock

    Pick that out!

Newcastle finally make one count and it is Joe Willock with an absolute thunderbolt!

Miguel Almiron carries the ball across the edge of the box before a heavy touch presents a perfect opening for the midfielder to lash a shot past Edouard Mendy.

Newcastle lead and they deserve it!

What a left arm stretched out from Nick Pope, it was definitely going in. Great save.

    Big save!

Chelsea spring to life and force Nick Pope into some work.

Kieran Trippier looks to have headed off the danger with a tackle on Christian Pulisic, but the Blues aren't done and Conor Gallagher almost finds the net with a curling shot. Pope is at full stretch to tip it away.

So, so much better from Chelsea.

Garett T Switzer: I remember a couple of years ago people were saying Jorginho was the best player in the world (ballon d'or) simply because he was the common denominator on two cup winning sides. My how that logic has aged poorly.

Chelsea have changed the system to 4-3-3 to see if they can get a foothold. We can criticise Broja for losing the ball but he had no options. He was just waiting and waiting.

Technically this is a Chelsea effort.

Mateo Kovacic's shot from range is blocked before it even reaches the box.

Chelsea's troubles are highlighted by Armando Broja having the ball fired in front of him to chase. He gets there but his team-mates are so deep in the field he can't hold on to it long enough for them to get up.

Caretaker manager Steve Davis makes two changes to the Wolves team that succumbed to a 3-2 home defeat by Brighton last Saturday.

Adama Traore keeps his place after starting in the Carabao Cup win over Leeds in midweek while Toti also comes in, suggesting a switch to a back five.

Wolves XI: Sa, Semedo, Collins, Kilman, Toti, Bueno, B Traore, Neves, Moutinho, Guedes, A Traore.

Subs: Sarkic, Ait-Nouri, Podence, Mosquera, Ronan, Matheus Nunes, Hodge, Campbell, Lembikisa.

Arsenal are unchanged as Mikel Arteta keeps faith with the side that began the 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge in their last league outing.

Another win today would give the Gunners a five-point lead at the top of the table going into the World Cup break.

Arsenal XI: Ramsdale, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko, Partey, Xhaka, Odegaard, Saka, Jesus, Martinelli.

Subs: Turner, Tierney, Nketiah, Holding, Cedric, Vieira, Nelson, Elneny, Marquinhos.

It really does feel like a sort of changing the guard a bit here. OK, so it's still 0-0, but Chelsea - who have become so accustomed to a top-four finish - are digging in, holding on. Newcastle, the newcomers to that top-four tussle are giving them a serious test.

JS: Potters biggest issue is that he was an owner's choice, rather than due to bad results and disgruntled fans. Always meant the pressure would be on early, whether fair or not.

More problems for Chelsea. And possibly Senegal.

Kalidou Koulibaly is down and getting treatment. He is his country's captain. He is due to be in Qatar.

    Oh, great cross!

Newcastle's assault continues as Joe Willock drifts in a fine ball that is just prevented from reaching Chris Wood in the middle by a toe poke from Lewis Hall.

    Chelsea are clinging on.

    Awful.

OK, so Conor Gallagher isn't a wing-back by trade but belting a cross straight out of play is woeful, especially for a man heading to Qatar with his country this winter.

Newcastle are much the better side now. They're pinning Chelsea in, they're stronger and sharper. They just need to find that ruthless edge to their attack.
