Some great movement off the ball. Chelsea have fallen asleep, especially the players that have to track back, Pulisic and Kovacic.

Again, if Newcastle show a bit more composure, they could be winning.

Kieran Trippier clips a cross to the back post for a Newcastle man to nod down. Miguel Almiron gets in there but sees his effort blocked by Edouard Mendy.

Newcastle come again and Sean Longstaff is presented with a glorious chance to fire his side ahead but sends his effort over the bar.

Joelinton does superbly to get past Jorginho on the right but he belts his cross too hard and past everyone in the box.

Jorginho got lucky there. His leg might as well have been transparent in that tackle.

Gallagher has a lot of energy but he gets noticed playing as a midfielder player for Palace, he comes back to Chelsea and is playing a few games and then he's at wing back. He probably never thought he would be playing at wing back for Chelsea.

We came here thinking it was two teams who were going to attack. Newcastle have pressed very high, Chelsea are quite happy to cosign them, try and caught them on the break. They haven't had much joy.

Both keepers haven't really been worked at all. But they are two well matched sides. Chelsea have looked very comfortable and Newcastle on the front foot but creating very little.

Francis Edwards: Chelsea are awful to watch. No plan whatsoever, players out of position and a man leading the line who wasn’t even good enough for Southampton but somehow everyone seemed to want him during the transfer window? Mad.

Looks like we'll be seeing him after the break to try and give Chelsea more of a punch up top.

  15. 'Different game if we'd scored penalty' - Vieirapublished at 18:33 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2022

    Nottingham Forest 1-0 Crystal Palace

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira to BBC Match of the Day:

"The second half was disappointing. I think in the first half we controlled the game, we created situations and had the penalty - if we scored first, the game would be completely different.

"We lost our discipline in the second half and Forest started to believe a little bit more and they took us somewhere where we didn't want to go. When they scored that first goal, it was impossible for us to get back and try to create chances because they had so many people behind the ball.

"It was difficult for us to find space and to play between the lines, to play behind their back four because they were really deep but we lost the game when we didn't take our chances in the first half.

"When you concede a goal, that means you didn't do something right - we need to reflect on the goals we concede but reflect as well on all the chances and situations that we created but didn't score from. The first goal always has a massive impact on games.

"When you look at his (Zaha's) ratio, I think it is quite positive so he will be the one who will take the next penalty."

  16. 'Milner sets the tone - but even at 36 he can still improve'published at 18:33 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2022

    FT: Liverpool 3-1 Southampton

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp: "Very, very pleased. Three points was the most important thing. The performance in the first half was really good as well. Early goal, early goal then for them but a good reaction. We got in behind and used our speed, used our football skills. Lovely chipped ball from Harvey and a good finish from Darwin.

"Second half wasn't as good. We needed Alisson. He enjoys that but as a manager I enjoy it much less. We didn't control the game well enough in the second half. Defensively we were too passive, too deep and that's how they were able to get through.

"But 22 points was the maximum we could reach before the break, we knew that for a little while and that's what we've got."

On Darwin Nunez: "It's a slightly different position and he has to defend much more and be deeper in moments. That is one area we were too passive second half. Offensively now, two goals, the movement was outstanding and you can see if we start creating more often, he will score."

On 600 PL games for James Milner: "Wow! I don't know how many have reached that mark in England. Most of the games probably for Liverpool so it's an honour to be around when he reaches that number. Even Millie is proud today.

"It's a big number, a big career and won pretty much everything. A role model for us, for everyone in the room. I knew he was on 599 and there was no chance he wouldn't play today.

"He did well, you could see that he is still important to us. He doesn't just play to get him number 600. He sets the tone very often, has the right amount of aggression. He knows that at 36, he has room for improvement, it's crazy. But I'm glad to have him. Congratulations James."

On being in stands: "I have best coaches around to help. There were a few technical problems - the phrase I heard most today was 'can you hear me, gaffer?!'

"The perspective is better to see the game but it is not my spot. I deserved the punishment but it's not my spot again."

  17. Boos are 'always fair'published at 18:32 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2022

    FT: West Ham 0-2 Leicester

    West Ham United

West Ham boss David Moyes to Sky Sports on boos at full-time: "It’s always fair. I’ve been a manager for a long time. It’s easy to forget how well we’ve done. I’d hope that would come into the thoughts. When you're not doing well you're always under pressure."

On Kurt Zouma's injury: "I didn’t know about it until the warm-up. He felt fluid in his knee. He thought he was fine to start. We hoped it was going to be OK."

  18. Postpublished at 18:32 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2022

    FT: Bournemouth 3-0 Everton

    Everton

Everton boss Frank Lampard tells Sky Sports: "Not a good one. Clearly to lose in the manner we did. The referee gets it wrong for the second goal, James Tarkowski has a head injury and we were told that two weeks ago.

"I am disappointed (with third goal), we need to defend it better."

On scenes at the end: "I can't talk you through it but fans have their dues o be happy today. They feel like I do.

"They were sharper than us, more aggressive and that is the responsibility of the players and mine. They have to take the action on the pitch."

  19. 'Hopefully the break works for us'published at 18:32 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2022

    FT: West Ham 0-2 Leicester

    West Ham United

West Ham boss David Moyes to BBC Sport: "We played well today. That was a big thing. That’s the disappointing thing. There’s been a bit of that the whole season. Last week we didn’t play well but today we did.

"In the main our peformances have been good. We haven’t been able to score at the end of it. We’re all going for a break. We need to take the break and hopefully it works for us and we come back fresh."

On fans leaving early: "Yeah. They were. When you're 2-0 down there's always a chance of that. For two and a half years they're use to seeing a team sixth or seventh, reaching semi-finals in Europe. When things aren't going so well you need people to stick together. We know we need to do much better."

  20. 'Players are human beings'published at 18:31 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2022

    FT: Liverpool 3-1 Southampton

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp: "Most parts of the first half was very good. We scored incredible goals but yes, conceded from a set-piece where there's space for improvement. We used our speed getting in behind and all three were sensational passes. In the second half we won because of Alisson.

"We gave them too much space in decisive areas, dropped too deep and the counter-pressing wasn't working really well.

"It was really intense and a long period for us. Now the first part of the season is finished. We have 22 points and I'm more than happy with that now.

"Of course we have to play better than we did in the second half but our problem was the whole first half of the season. We played too many of the same players. We cannot give them a break. Everyone came through without injury today which is particularly important. We know we can do better. It is a proper pre-season with a big group now. Let's hope we can keep staying fit and fight through. It's OK. I feel really relieved that it's over. I wanted to have these six points from these last two games.

"The Champions League was comfortable in the end so that's good. We're still in the Carabao Cup so that's good. We know we have space for improvement so we will put a proper shift in to make this gap smaller [in the Premier League].

"The World Cup now for the players is incredibly difficult. The players are first and foremost human beings. Ibrahima Konate should be fine. When you get the call that you are in the squad, you have to get through. The boys are professional but that's not the problem, they are humans. But all good today.

"James Milner... 600 appearances is incredible. How much he helped when he came on with his experience. Fantastic player and fantastic person. He is in a small club that has more than 600 games - which is crazy."
