It's almost the last thing you learn as a wide player on how to get on the ball in dangerous areas because if you are going to be close up, you got to learn how to come short and come again to develop five or ten yards.

  2. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 69 mins

    Leicester 0-1 Aston Villa

Both sides have switched personnel around at the King Power Stadium, and now Leicester make a triple change.

Simon, Purfield and O'Brien are replaced by Vance, Bott and Flint, who enter the action just in time to see Mayumi Pacheco rasp a rising drive well wide of the target from outside the penalty area on the left.

Leicester have around 20 minutes in which to score at least once if they want to avoid a second defeat of the season.

  3. 'The strength for Man City is their wide players'published at 16:32 British Summer Time 25 September 2022

    Chelsea 0-0 Man City

    Faye White
Ex-England captain on BBC Radio 5 Live

The strength for Man City is their wide players in the attacking areas. With just that back four of Chelsea, they are not just getting as much space onto those wide areas.

Lauren Hemp hasn't been seen on the ball and neither has Chloe Kelly. It's been through Khadija Shaw, but this is encouraging from City.

  4. Postpublished at 28 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Manchester City

The chances at either end continue here, City have had seven of the 10 attempts so far, but it says everything about both sides' accuracy in front of goal that they've also sent in the only effort on target.

The situation could have been different had the leaping Kerr connected with a Reiten delivery from the left a few moments ago. Millimetres away.

  5. YELLOW CARDpublished at 71 mins

    West Ham 0-2 Man Utd

Man Utd defender Millie Turner joins mates Alessio Russo and Hannah Blundell in the book.

Marc Skinner won't want a red card with his side in control of the game.

  6. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 62 mins

    Leicester 0-1 Aston Villa

    Villa hit the crossbar!

Danielle Turner takes aim from a free-kick from a considerable distance out to the right of centre, curling a powerful effort towards goal.

Levell looks comfortably placed to palm the attempt behind but touches it on to the woodwork and away. Relief for the goalkeper!

  7. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 66 mins

    West Ham 0-2 Man Utd

    West Ham are not happy!

An effort from the edge of the area was deflected into the path of Lucy Parker and she steered home from eight yards out.

Manchester United immediately complain and put their hands in the air for offside but it looks like the goal is going to be given.

Referee Emily Heaslip then goes over to speak to her linesperson and ends up giving offside.

Interesting goal. It is hard to tell with the camera angle, but it looks the right call. My instinct was offside.

    Chelsea 0-0 Manchester City

A pattern is emerging: Shaw sends a shot looping narrowly over the crossbar from just outside the penalty area.

That was significantly more worrying for Berger than the forward's previous effort.

  9. 'Shaw has started well'published at 16:23 British Summer Time 25 September 2022

    Chelsea 0-0 Man City

    Faye White
Ex-England captain on BBC Radio 5 Live

Chelsea do look really threatening when they break. Equally, they just leave themselves a little bit exposed at times.

Shaw has started quite well and looks powerful with the ball. She's trying to dribble, commit defenders and get shots away.

  10. YELLOW CARDpublished at 62 mins

    West Ham 0-2 Man Utd

West Ham finally get forward. I think that might be their first attack in the second half.

The ball ends up at the feet of Izzy Atkinson but her effort is blocked.

West Ham get the ball back and Alessio Russo gives away a foul and goes in the book.

  11. Postpublished at 18 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Manchester City

Shaw has been a persistent threat so far.

This time she spins on the edge of the penalty area on the right and lofts a shot high over the crossbar - but she showed excellent technique to fashion that opportunity for herself from a difficult bouncing ball.

  12. Postpublished at 58 mins

    Leicester 0-1 Aston Villa

There hasn't been a great deal for either goalkeeper to worry about during the opening stages of the first half.

Lehmann does well to win a corner for Villa on their left, which Leicester clear.

  13. CLOSE!published at 16:18 British Summer Time 25 September 2022

    West Ham 0-2 Man Utd

Marc Skinner's Man Utd side are dominating in this second period.

Alessio Russo gets on the edge of a cross and her header goes just wide of the far post.

Her hands immediately went on her head. She would have expected to score from there.

  14. Postpublished at 16:17 British Summer Time 25 September 2022

    Chelsea 0-0 Man City

    Jess Anderson
    BBC Sport at Kingsmeadow

Ann-Katrin Berger is making her first appearance since confirming in August that her thyroid cancer had returned after four years in remission. Great to see her back on the pitch.

She's had quite a bit to do so far in this game as City press forward.

It's been end to end stuff, to be honest, with Ellie Roebuck equally busy at the other end of the pitch.

  15. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 15 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Manchester City

Now Kadeisha Buchanan is on uncharacteristic form, leaving out a leg as Shaw arrows towards the area from the left.

The forward goes down and has a huge shout for a penalty, which isn't given.

  16. Postpublished at 12 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Manchester City

We've clearly cursed Houghton, as the dependable defender plays a routine pass back to her goalkeeper hopelessly short, sending Kerr clean through on goal.

You'd put every last penny on the hotshot to score as she bears down on goal, only to try to square a pass to Kirby, who cannot crack in a shot.

    Uncharacteristic from the prolific striker!

  17. goal

GOAL - West Ham 0-2 Man Utdpublished at 55 mins

    Hannah Blundell

    Finish!

The visitors break down the right wing and a cut back lands to the edge of the area. Left-back Hannah Blundell runs onto it, opens up her body and places the ball into the bottom corner.

It is her first goal for the Reds. She joined from Chelsea last year.

  18. Postpublished at 9 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Manchester City

Lauren James has the alertness to volley a low delivery back across goal after reaching a cross from the left at the far post.

Fleming cannot apply any power to her effort, evading the attentions of a defence being expertly led by Steph Houghton.

  19. Postpublished at 47 mins

    Leicester 0-1 Aston Villa

We're back underway at the King Power Stadium, where Villa cannot capitalise on a spell of possession inside Leicester's half on their right, conceding a throw-in with a sloppy pass.

  20. goal

GOAL - West Ham 0-1 Man Utdpublished at 50 mins

    Lucia Garcia

A first Manchester United goal for the Spaniard.

    It's a lovely goal too.

The summer signing from Athletic Bilbao latches onto a through ball, rounds Mackenzie Arnold, and slots into the empty goal.

    It's a deserved lead.
