I'd like to see Newcastle make one more big move this window. I'd like to see us sign holding midfielder. Think it's a position we massively need to strengthen, with last night showing we're lacking that defensive grit when Guimaraes is out.

What a summer. We knew it was going to be a busy one but I don’t think any NUFC fan was truly prepared for the drama and attention that followed.

Linked with more than 200 players, NUFC were fast out of the blocks with links and rumours, done deals that weren’t and then a surprise as Matt Targett returned to make his loan permanent. Dean Henderson was a shoe-in but then Nick Pope came out of nowhere.

After that, we engaged in a battle with AC Milan to make sure Sven Botman was wearing black and white, secured as Newcastle flexed their financial muscles. He’s been a superb signing that has finally repackaged the defence into a solid unit to move us forward.

But the big one was what nobody expected. We were told we have no money with just loans available only for Alexander Isak to fly in from sunny Spain and become our record transfer. A lightning forward with an abundance of trickery and a thunderbolt of a shot, at 22 years old, he is exactly what we need.

Are we closed for business? I wouldn’t be shocked if at least one more came through the door but regardless, Eddie Howe will continue to drive these players to greatness with or without new blood.

    9/10. A superb window.

Opinion will be split among Liverpool fans about whether they want Tielemans or someone else in midfield.

They've been linked with Douglas Luiz but Arthur Melo, from Juventus, is the one that they're trying to push through.

With the processes that Liverpool have in place, they're not going to panic. Melo is a Brazil international and they do need reinforcements in midfield.

Liverpool tend to be very structured in the way that they plan signings and recruit. They would have had targets in mind.

I was at Leeds on Tuesday and Angus Kinnear, their chief executive, was saying that 90% of their business is already done.

If the targets become available then they will go out and sign them but they're not going to jeopardise their recruitment plan for the sake of just spending.

Sometimes fans get frustrated with that but these guys are not playing Championship Manager or Football Manager. They've got to stick to a plan.

When you go a little bit ad-hoc, that's when things can unravel. It's very important, whoever's in recruitment, to stick to your plan and, if you can bring the right players in at the right place, they'll benefit from that.
