  1. James to Fulham is onpublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

    Dafydd Pritchard
    BBC Sport Wales

Fulham are in advanced talks to sign Leeds United winger Dan James on loan.

Discussions are progressing well but James’ representatives say they have not yet agreed whether or not there will be an option or obligation to make the move permanent.

  2. 'So many deals are in the offing'published at 14:10 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

    Ian Dennis
BBC Radio 5 Live senior football reporter

The amount of spending done by Premier League clubs in this window is astronomical.

This particular day is normally a bit of a damp squib but so many deals have been done already.

There are also so many deals in the offing which will have a domino effect. You've got Chelsea still trying to secure Aubameyang from Barcelona, Liverpool looking to bring in Arthur Melo from Juventus on loan, Everton trying to re-sign Idrissa Gueye from Paris St-Germain, Douglas Luiz getting interest from Arsenal and another club.

So many deals could still happen - West Ham want Jan Bednarek from Southampton, and if Southampton allow him to go, they'll want to bring in another defender.

There's interest in Tottenham's Lucas Moura in a loan deal, and Tottenham are not interested in letting him go out on loan, but that could change if there is a permanent deal.

Dan James has been linked to Tottenham but that might be dependent on, say, Bryan Gil returning to Spain.

There's still a lot up in the air between now and 11 o'clock. All of the money is in the Premier League. It just underlines where the wealth and power in Europe is.

    Cheers Emma, top stuff.

Would say there's been a ripple of transfers coming through so far.

Seeing what may be in the offing for the remainder of the day, could that turn into a tsunami of signings?

Let's hope so, will keep us busy rather than leaving us twiddling our thumbs.

None of the big signings announced at 2pm then. Boooo!

But that's my stint on here done. Shamoon Hafez can hopefully deliver you a few more deals.

    All yours, Sham.

  5. What else to look out for?published at 14:03 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

Still lots to keep an eye on:

Chelsea are close to signing former Arsenal striker Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang.

Aston Villa have agreed a £15m deal for Wolves and Belgium midfielder Leander Dendoncker.

Liverpool are trying to sign Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo on loan.

Wolves are looking to sign defender Craig Dawson from West Ham.

West Ham are considering whether to make a move for Southampton centre-half Jan Bednarek.

Deals for Idrissa Gueye from Paris St-Germain and Manchester United's James Garner are moving forward to a successful conclusion at Everton.

Several reports suggest Leeds have agreed a deal in excess of £10 million with Marseille for striker Bamba Dieng.

Fulham are among the clubs chasing Leeds winger Daniel James.

Arsenal are chasing Aston Villa's Douglas Luiz.

Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka is close to joining Manchester United on loan, while Matty Longstaff and Federico Fernandez could also be on the move.

Re anon 11:34. Everything I've read has suggested that Dawson wants to leave West Ham because the commute from Manchester is too long... Southampton is unlikely to be the solution to that particular issue somehow!

  10. Why does Arthur make sense?published at 13:50 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

    Ian Kennedy
    Reporter, BBC Radio Merseyside Sport

The idea that Liverpool would be interested in Arthur Melo seems to make perfect sense. He’s Brazilian for a start - that always helps! And he’ll fit in nicely with compatriots already in the Anfield dressing room.

More importantly, he’s experienced at the top level, he’s good on the ball, a good passer, and seems to be able to play different roles in the midfield area. Holding, playmaker, box to box. All of that.

With Jordan Henderson the latest injury worry, a new midfielder may be necessary although Jurgen Klopp says it has to be the RIGHT player. Perhaps Liverpool have found him.

  11. Loan moves likely at Newcastlepublished at 13:47 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

    Alistair Magowan
    BBC Sport

Newcastle have already set a club record this window by signing Alexander Isak for £60m, so there are unlikely to be any major moves today.

However, there could be some loan deals and three players could be leaving St James' Park. Goalkeeper Martin Dubravka wants to join Manchester United, with a loan deal being worked on. Matty Longstaff could be on his way to League One Barnsley, and defender Federico Fernandez is drawing interest too.

Nick Rodeley: Why Manchester United aren't moving for Youri Tielemens after spending all summer courting Frenkie De Jong is beyond me. A terrific player, Premier League proven and an absolute steal at £25million. Plus we play Leicester tonight! Do the deal.

  13. Why is Marsch after Dieng?published at 13:43 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport reporter

Leeds United are keen on Senegal forward Bamba Dieng.

Manager Jesse Marsch wants someone who can play across the forward line.

He was interested in PSV’s Cody Gakpo, who will instead remain in Holland.

A conversation has also taken place with Wolves over Hwang Hee-chan but it now seems Dieng is the most likely option.

The 22-year-old has been with Marseille since 2020 and scored seven goals in Ligue 1 last term.

If Leeds are able to conclude a deal, it would open the door for Wales international Dan James to leave the club, amid interest from Fulham.

There has been interest in Lucas Moura for a loan deal but Tottenham are not interested in that.

  15. Watford standing firm on star duopublished at 13:39 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

    Phil McNulty
    BBC Sport chief football writer

It would take something out of the ordinary to make Watford blink and sell either of their star attacking duo Ismaila Sarr and Joao Pedro.

Sarr saw a move to Aston Villa break down while Pedro has yet to see interest from Newcastle United and Everton materialise into anything more substantial.

Newcastle have now signed £60m Alexander Isak while Everton are exploring a variety of options.

The current state of affairs is that Watford have had no firm bids for either and are in no mood to sell prize assets so late in the window so the clock is ticking for interested parties.

Richard, Sussex: Regarding Alan's comment on Liverpool's apparent bargain basement deals - as a fan, I don't consider it remotely embarrassing.

The recent revival and success of the club has been achieved primarily by seeking out available players who fit the club - not just in terms of skills but also temperament, personality etc.

We certainly do need to bolster the midfield, but simply going out to grab a big name at whatever cost regardless of suitability is not the club's way and never should be.

Gary, Wigan: Hi Alan. Waiting for Bellingham. He was never leaving this summer because Haaland already had.

Why spend a fortune on a midfielder when we want Bellingham next time?

Ben Webb: I'm struggling to understand the Liverpool logic. Surely they need someone to hit the ground running, with Premier League experience.

So Tielemans or Douglas Luiz would cost cash but they would be assets acquired at good prices - surely that makes both sporting and financial sense?

Paul: Good business from LFC to bring Arthur in on loan. He costs nothing and will help our injury-hit midfield out for the season. No need to waste money on a big name when a solid mid-range player can come in for nothing.

  17. Villa seek additionspublished at 13:35 British Summer Time 1 September 2022

    Phil McNulty
    BBC Sport chief football writer

Plenty of whispers swirling around Aston Villa on this deadline day.

They are in talks with Wolverhampton Wanderers over a deal for Belgium midfield man Leander Dendoncker while standing firm with no intention of selling Douglas Luiz amid reports of interest from Arsenal.

Think a few plates are spinning on defenders after the long-term injury to summer signing Diego Carlos. Southampton's Jan Bednarek is being mentioned as a possible loan option.

  18. James to Fulham agreed?published at 13:33 British Summer Time 1 September 2022
