  16. Shved leaves Celtic dark days behindpublished at 17:35 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Shakhtar Donetsk v Celtic (17:45)

On top of beating Leipzig last week, Shakhtar are joint leaders of their domestic league despite Igor Jovicevic's first season in charge being disrupted on two fronts because of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

They not only cannot play in their home country, never mind their home stadium, but have lost 19 players because of the knock-on effects of the hostilities.

Having switched this summer from domestic rivals Dnipro-1, Jovicevic has had to scramble around to build a new squad and one of them is well known to Celtic fans.

Marian Shved failed to make the breakthrough in Scotland during a two-year spell with Celtic after his transfer from Karpaty Lviv but the winger hit the ground running after joining Shakhtar from Mechelen, scoring three goals in his latest two games.

The positivity around the club right now is immense. Postecoglou might not even believe the things he says, that's the thing with great managers, but he sends out the message to everybody to say we can compete with Real Madrid. Don't get beat 3-0 then be happy with being clapped off and saying 'well, it was Real Madrid'. It's terrific management

  20. 'No point changing approach' - Postecogloupublished at 17:23 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Shakhtar Donetsk v Celtic (17:45)

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou reiterates the desire for his players to continue to play the way they do week-in-week-out on the European stage.

"We do it on a daily basis," he tells BT Sport. "We work really hard on a daily basis to be a certain kind of football team.

"There's no point coming out to do that at the weekend then changing your approach.

"We want to test ourselves against the best and that's the stage we’re on."
