  1. Napoli impress in Italy and Europepublished at 19:51 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Rangers v Napoli (20:00)

Napoli are unbeaten in seven games this season after last week's impressive 4-1 win over Liverpool in their Group A opener, and Saturday's 1-0 defeat of Spezia put them top of Serie A.

They have also suffered only two defeats in their latest 15 Champions League fixtures, winning six and drawing seven.

But they have only won five of their 20 away games in the group stage, losing seven, and a 3-2 win over Salzburg in 2019-20 is their sole victory in their last 11 away matches in the competition.

The last player to score a Champions League group-stage goal at Ibrox? Think you might know who he is... some guy called Wayne Rooney.

The former England striker scored the only goal from the spot as Manchester United edged out Rangers in November 2010.

Almost 12 years on, the Ibrox crowd will be hoping it's one of their players that provides the decisive moment tonight.

  3. 'We have to be a lot better to compete' - Goldsonpublished at 19:48 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Rangers v Napoli (20:00)

Rangers centre-back Connor Goldson says it's an "amazing" feeling to have Champions League group-stage football back at Ibrox.

"It's been a long journey for myself and this club to get this point," he tells RangersTV. "We need to go out and show how much it means to us and the club.

"I'm sure it'll be tough. We've seen the clips and highlights from [Napoli's win] last week against Liverpool. We're playing against top teams every single game.

"We saw that last week against Ajax. We have to be a lot better if we want to compete at this level. If we work hard and get his crowd up, we know how hard it can be for any opposition coming here."

    Rangers v Napoli (20:00)

Napoli are without star striker Victor Osimhen, who picked up an injury in last week's thumping 4-1 win over Liverpool.

The Nigeria international is replaced with Giovanni Simeone, son of Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone, who scored against last season's runners-up.

In the only other change from last Wednesday's victory over Jurgen Klopp's side, Mario Rui replaces Mathias Olivera at left-back.

Ibrox has that European crackle to it as the stadium nears capacity. Giovanni van Bronckhorst needs a performance from his team, and he's gone with the tried and trusted members of his squad.

Not a single summer signing makes the starting XI tonight. Will the old guard perform in Europe as they did so often last season?

Shakhtar will be delighted to get out of that game with a point. Celtic gained so much control after the changes, and with those chances it could have finished 4-1 to Celtic. That should have been three points.

  7. Morelos & McGregor start at Ibroxpublished at 19:43 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

    Rangers v Napoli (20:00)

As mentioned earlier, the big Rangers team news is a first start of the season for striker Alfredo Morelos and confirmation of the return of Allan McGregor in goal.

McGregor and Morelos are two of five changes from last week's drubbing to Ajax as midfielders Ryan Jack, Steven Davis and Scott Arfield also start.

Injured goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin is out, along with Glen Kamara, Scott Wright, Antonio Colak and Malik Tillman, who all drop to the bench.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has opted to stick with the same backline that has conceded eight goals in their last two games.

  10. FULL-TIME Shakhtar Donetsk 1-1 Celticpublished at 19:39 British Summer Time 14 September 2022

Celtic are off the mark in Group F, but it could have been all three if they had taken their chances.

Midfielder Reo Hatate trundled in an early opener for the visitors, but Mykhaylo Mudryk's second in two Champions League outings thundered the hosts level.

Shakhtar lead the section with four points from two games ahead of Real Madrid hosting RB Leipzig shortly.

    Celtic almost snatch it.

Giorgos Giakoumakis beats the goalkeeper to the ball on the edge of the penalty box, the striker's prodded effort looks to be trickling towards the goal line, but defender Valeriy Bondar is there to hack clear.

We're into five minutes of stoppage time.

Another great late chance for Celtic.

Josip Juranovic places a fine low pass behind the home defence, Daizen Maeda is there at the back post, but the Japanese striker can only stab it wide from 12 yards out.

What a chance for Giorgos Giakoumakis.

I think Celtic will still push for a late goal here, to the detriment of possibly conceding a late goal. That's just the way they play. They keep going and they keep trying to win games and get three points
