  1. Scotland form a concern?published at 19:20 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Scotland v Ukraine (19:45)

The wheels haven't exactly come off, but Scotland are certainly spluttering.

After motoring to six straight wins in World Cup qualifying last year, it's just two victories from six in 2022. No wonder Steve Clarke has spoken of his team having "stalled" as he seeks to regain momentum.

The two defeats in that run - to Ukraine and Republic of Ireland - were particularly woeful.

Will we see Clarke's men roar back to their best this evening?

I think McKenna is a decent centre-back, he was probably a bit unlucky to miss out when our strongest three were playing. I don't think he's the best on the ball but he's good in the air and very, very quick to recover

  3. Scotland's campaign so far...published at 19:13 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Scotland v Ukraine (19:45)

Three games down, three to go, and plenty of room for improvement.

Just a week after their World Cup dream crumbled, Scotland had to dust themselves off for Nations League action.

They began with a perfunctory 2-0 home win over Armenia, but calamity was looming just around the corner as Steve Clarke's side travelled to Dublin and stunk the place out with a dreadful 3-0 loss to Republic of Ireland.

The Scots quickly bounced back by easing to a 4-1 win in Armenia, who finished with nine men, to leave themselves a point behind leaders Ukraine at the halfway stage.

After tonight, the Irish visit Hampden on Saturday before Scotland wrap things up against Ukraine in Poland next Tuesday.

    All to play for...

  5. Scots out to settle score after Ukraine's Hampden highpublished at 19:07 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Scotland v Ukraine (19:45)

Ukraine return to Hampden for the second time in a matter of months. It's fair to say the June meeting didn't end well for the Scots.

A World Cup play-off final place was on the line, but Ukraine triumphed 3-1 on an emotion-charged night in their first competitive game since Russia's invasion began in February.

While Scotland's World Cup absence stretched to at least 28 years, Ukraine fell just short too, subsequently losing 1-0 to Wales.

  7. Tierney starts at left-back as Adams leads linepublished at 19:01 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Scotland v Ukraine (19:45)

Fit-again Kieran Tierney makes his first Scotland appearance since March - and it's a timely return as the Arsenal defender slots in for injured captain Andy Robertson at left-back.

It appears Steve Clarke has dispensed with his favoured back three to go for a flat four, with Jack Hendry and Scott McKenna the central pairing.

That means a more familiar midfield role for Scott McTominay, while Che Adams is the lone striker with support from Stuart Armstrong and Ryan Christie.

In all, there are three changes from Scotland's previous game, the 4-1 win in Armenia, and six from the World Cup play-off loss to Ukraine.

There's still plenty if experience included - the starting XI have 391 caps between them.
