The Moldovan visitors will have a new face in the Old Trafford dugout tonight.

But Tiraspol didn't shoot the Sheriff. Nor the deputy.

Croatian boss Stjepan Tomas fired himself - just two days ago!

In a shock move, Tomas resigned after Sunday's 1-0 defeat by Petrocub because he felt his players were distracted by tonight's trip to Manchester United.

Despite losing to their nearest rivals, Sheriff are still six points clear of Petrocub at the top of the Moldovan National Division after a first defeat of the league campaign.

"It seems that the players were thinking about the match in Manchester, there was no concentration. This is my mistake," said Tomas.

Not sure how many Sheriff fans are in town, though.

Pretty sure there aren't any direct flights from MLD to MCR so it could have been an expensive trek for them.

The Sam Smith's pub in Manchester city centre will be gutted if they haven't come over.

Will be interesting to hear the OT crowd's reaction to Cristiano Ronaldo.

The television coverage on BT Sport highlighted there were a few boos when he turned up at the stadium.

Maybe they were from some Moldovan fans who have made the journey...

How's the revolution under Erik ten Hag going? Manchester United fan Alex Turk, from the Stretford Paddock , externalfanzine reckons the team's progress is ahead of schedule.

"The first four months of his reign have been a whirlwind, but the positives outweigh the negatives.

"Sure, United started horrendously and were dismantled in the Manchester derby, but the Dutchman's vision has been realised in recent games.

"He is an important part of the squad and we have to play a role in all competitions.

On handing a first start to teenage forward Alejandro Garnacho: "He is reliable but also has a bit of the X-factor. He can outplay defenders and run behind.

"I have a front three which is creative. We have a dynamic team today.

"It's about winning the game, we want to score as many goals as possible, and then see if we can give players like Harry Maguire and Donny van de Beek minutes."

A huge win for PSV means Arsenal will have to wait until their final game to try and clinch top spot in Group A.

Mikel Arteta's side are two points above PSV going into the final round of matches, so they'll need a win to be sure of finishing first when they face FC Zurich next week.
