Nketiah showing why he's totally ineffective except scoring tap-ins against disinterested sides in the League Cup. With him on the pitch we're back to last season's inadequacies.

    PSV 2-0 Arsenal

Time is ticking away and any hope of a late Arsenal fightback is beginning to fade in Eindhoven.

The hosts have a corner, but it's long and Luuk de Jong can't reach it.

It looks like the striker might have injured himself stretching for that.

  3. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 84 mins

    PSV 2-0 Arsenal

Cody Gakpo is applauded off as he's replaced by Mauro Junior.

He was denied a brilliant goal in the first half, in another exciting performance that will surely not have gone unnoticed at clubs across Europe.

GoonerThoughts: The over reaction from Arsenal “fans” is laughable.. 5 wins and 1 loss in Europa League, top of Premier League. And then comments like Dave’s saying CL droppers would have a field day. So over the top. I’m sure Arteta will note where he needs to strengthen.

Anon: Give it a rest Dave, talk about doom and gloom.

Anon: Dave knows Arsenal have already qualified right??

Why are we bringing on/playing first team players that need a rest?? Even if we lose we only need to beat Zurich at home to win the group. Give them a break, Mikel!

  7. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 80 mins

    PSV 2-0 Arsenal

A triple change for PSV now as Ruud van Nistelrooy looks to see out what would be an excellent victory over the Premier League leaders.

Granit Xhaka looks to offer Xavi Simmons help in getting off the pitch, which inevitably doesn't go down well. Both players get themselves a yellow card, and after a prolonged farewell Simons eventually departs.

Noni Madueke, Jordan Teze and Guus Til come on, as Joey Veerman and Jarrad Branthwaite also make way.

  8. CLOSE!published at 19:21 British Summer Time 27 October 2022

    PSV 2-0 Arsenal

    What a tackle!

Jarrad Branthwaite produces a superb last-ditch tackle to deny an almost certain Arsenal goal, nipping in to beat Gabriel Jesus to the ball inside the six-yard box.

    PSV 2-0 Arsenal

Arsenal are building pressure on the PSV goal but there's no way through just yet. The hosts are working hard to protect their lead and they're so far succeeding in frustrating Mikel Arteta's side.

Have a feeling Arsenal won't draw this. Zurich looks like a tough game now. There just isn't the quality needed. Then again Conte needs three more windows, Arteta needs the same it seems. Poor. Very poor. CL droppers would have a field day with Arsenal. Perhaps going out would be best?

  11. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 74 mins

    PSV 2-0 Arsenal

Gabriel and Ben White come on as Mikel Arteta looks to deal with his Luuk de Jong problem.

Kieran Tierney and Takehiro Tomiyasu make way.

  12. Postpublished at 72 mins

    PSV 2-0 Arsenal

Arsenal settle back into possession after weathering a PSV storm, but it's not long before the hosts are nipping away to try and create another opportunity on the counter.

The Gunners are yet to land a shot on target so far in the second half.

  13. GREAT SAVE!published at 70 mins

    PSV 2-0 Arsenal

Arsenal are not handling Luuk de Jong at all!

The half-time substitute is only denied by an excellent Aaron Ramsdale save at close range.

The flag goes up, so it wouldn't have counted, but PSV will feel they really should be out of sight by now.

  14. CLOSE!published at 68 mins

    PSV 2-0 Arsenal

Blimey, PSV go close to a third again but Luuk de Jong fires wide of the far post.

Gabriel Martinelli and Phillipp Mwene both receive yellow cards following a disagreement.

  15. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 66 mins

    Here comes Gabriel Jesus.

The Brazil forward replaces Rob Holding for the final 25 minutes or so.

Man Utd v Sheriff Tiraspol (20:00 BST)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

There has been a growing clamour for Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag to make more use of 18-year-old Alejandro Garnacho.

The youngster has already been called up by the full Argentina national squad and was instrumental in United's FA Youth Cup success last term.

Garnacho's three substitute appearances so far this season total just 21 minutes.

It will be fascinating to see how he goes on this evening.

  17. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 65 mins

    PSV 2-0 Arsenal

A THIRD goal disallowed for offside for PSV!

Cody Gakpo meets a cross in the box and knocks the ball past Aaron Ramsdale, but immediately the flag is raised.

    It's all PSV.

GOAL - PSV 2-0 Arsenalpublished at 63 mins

    Luuk de Jong

Aaron Ramsdale misses it, but Luuk de Jong won't!

That's a bit of a nightmare for the Arsenal keeper, who comes out for the corner but completely misses with his punch, allowing substitute De Jong to head into an open goal.

Two goals in eight minutes for PSV. A long way back for Arsenal.

  19. Postpublished at 61 mins

    PSV 1-0 Arsenal

That's exactly how PSV want to play this now.

The hosts invite the pressure and then look to pounce on the counter. Arsenal look a bit stretched, but they recover.

Still, the hosts will have a corner...

  20. YELLOW CARDpublished at 59 mins

    PSV 1-0 Arsenal

Kieran Tierney goes into the book for a late tackle. It's all a bit more rushed from Arsenal now as they try and force their way back into this. PSV have dropped in to avoid conceding a quick leveller.

Bukayo Saka and Thomas Partey are sent on by Mikel Arteta, with Martin Odegaard and Albert Sambi Lokonga making way.
