The two then wrestle for possession and both end up on the floor, but the referee waves play on.

Lauren Hemp finds some space on the left wing for the first time and she's able to drop her shoulder and gets past Ona Batlle with absolute ease.

Her cross into the box is met by summer signing Deyna Castellanos, but she can only poke wide from the edge of the area.

Based on that the hosts need to get the ball to Hemp.

You just started to fear for City there that for all their possession they could be open to conceding from a set-piece .

Ellie Roebuck saw that danger and came out of her goal and smothered the ball, eventually.

The hosts are playing the better football but can they capitalise?

Great hands from Ellie Roebuck, who had to get over her own players as well as United players. She'll be grateful that the ball is nestled in her hands. It's great fun doing that.

United can be extremely dangerous from set pieces. Katie Zelem has already got five assists from dead-ball situations this season.

Her first corner is cleared, but she whips the clearance back into the box with her left foot and City keeper Ellie Roebuck clatters through everyone to come for the cross.

She gets a bit fortunate because she drops it initially but is able to gather at the second attempt.

Time for some Man Utd pressure now.

City defender Laia Aleixandri does really well to get in front of Alessia Russo and clear a cross, before another is headed away by Alex Greenwood.

United's left has been their strong part so far, but they've won a corner on the right now.

Manchester City are definitely on top at the moment.

But United have defended well - they have a lack of bodies in the City box but that's because they are all back defending and working hard to limit Manchester City's chances.

They are doing that well so far from open play - yes, there have been a couple of chances from set-pieces but in open play United have been resolute so far.

City have done well to play on the front foot and cut off United's options when they're looking to play out. It gives Earps no option but to launch it long.

It is all Manchester City at the moment. In terms of possession anyway, they aren't really creating anything.

The visitors are struggling to get Ella Toone on the ball. She's only had four touches so far, and her latest one sees her put the ball out of play.

Marc Skinner will want her to grow into the game. She was instrumental in the Reds' win at Arsenal.

We've just seen a replay of that Alex Greenwood corner and Mary Earps literally punches it away on the goalline.

She does brilliantly because she is absolutely surrounded by players, both in blue and red shirts.

That passage of play has just lifted the crowd a little in here.

I have to say I am a fan of having the proper away end in. Manchester United fans are all sitting in the away area that is used for the men's games and the boos and whistles were coming from that pocket of red for those few set pieces.

Normally there is no away end at women's games but I hope it's something they will keep considering going forward.

This game is coming to life now.

It's good to see Steph Houghton on the bench today. Hopefully she's getting the better of her fitness problems.

It's a good battle between Kerstin Casparij and Leah Galton down the left-hand side. Houghton is still marshalling her team from the sidelines - she assumed that role at City and for England for such a long time.

Wow! How has that not gone in?

A superb ball by Alex Greenwood is right on the Manchester United goalline but somehow it stays out and the visitors scramble clear.

That has raised the noise levels a little.

After a quiet start the hosts are really growing into the game.

They don't allow United to clear and Yui Hasegawa tries to get round Alessia Russo on the right wing and wins a corner.

Oh! The wall does it job.

Good job too, Mary Earps was scrambling across in the Manchester United goal.
