Well, I don't know where that came from but City won't care.

They've done absolutely nothing in this half - but of course it would be Chloe Kelly with that wicked cross.

It totally evades Millie Turner, who is distracted by Bunny Shaw, and Laura Coombs is basically unmarked at the back post to nod home.

    Big goal.

That goal has set up a grandstand finish now, you would think. Both teams will know they realistically need to win, but will either be prepared to lose to win? Let's see.

United have done a lot of the pressing since the equaliser, with Ella Toone driving over the bar from range.

  3. 'Right place, right time' for Coombspublished at 13:51 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2022

    Man City 1-1 Man Utd

    Siobhan Chamberlain
Ex-England and Man Utd goalkeeper on BBC 5 Live Sports Extra

She's been at Manchester City for a good few years and is a player who's had to bide her time as she hasn't been an outright starter.

But since this midfield change-around they've had she's played so much more this season and has been scoring important goals, none more so than this one.

It was a fantastic delivery from out wide and Laura Coombs was in the right place at the right time with nobody there to block the header.

GOAL - Man City 1-1 Man Utdpublished at 59 mins

    Laura Coombs

    From absolutely nowhere!

Laia Aleixandri does really well to drive between the lines for Manchester City and the ball eventually ends up at the feet of Chloe Kelly on the right wing.

She whips one of her trademark crosses into the box and Millie Turner, perhaps put off slightly by the lurking presence of Bunny Shaw, misses with an attempted headed clearance.

Laura Coombs is waiting, six yards out, and just nods into the empty not.

That is her fourth WSL of the season - and she has two assists too - so it is already her best season.

  5. City feeling Walsh absencepublished at 13:47 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2022

    Man City 0-1 Man Utd

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
    Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC One

Since their inception in the WSL, City had always used Keira Walsh as that outlet to get out of defence. Her repertoire of skills is unbelievable. Missing her, they're missing the link.

Manchester United aren't in any rush. They will take any chance they get to stop any sparks of hope or momentum for City.

    Man City 0-1 Man Utd

United are managing this game really well at the moment.

Whether it is keeping the ball, running the clock down when they win a foul or throw-in or pressing City high so the hosts aren't able to build, they are doing it brilliantly.

How long before Gareth Taylor turns to the City bench?

  7. 'City not committing enough bodies forward'published at 13:44 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2022

    Man City 0-1 Man Utd

    Siobhan Chamberlain
Ex-England and Man Utd goalkeeper on BBC 5 Live Sports Extra

Manchester City just aren't committing enough bodies forward - they are being a little bit too defensive for my liking.

I'd like to see their forward players on the ball, driving forward - Chloe Kelly, Lauren Hemp, they are so talented on the ball, running one v one, driving infield, getting shots away, bringing others players into play.

But we haven't seen that yet today and that's what we need to see from City if they are going to come away from this game with a point or three.

    Man City 0-1 Man Utd

United centre-back Maya Le Tissier surely has a very bright future in the game.

She joined the Reds from Brighton this summer and has since made her England debut.

The 20-year-old does really well to get her body in front of Bunny Shaw as they chase a ball in behind, and earns her side a foul.

  9. 'United seem more fluid'published at 13:42 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2022

    Man City 0-1 Man Utd

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
    Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC One

Manchester City have got talent in their ranks individually but the difference has been the team, for Man Utd - those runs and interchanges of positions.

They seem more fluid and well-connected.

  10. Postpublished at 51 mins

    Man City 0-1 Man Utd

Absolute nerves of steel from Alex Greenwood.

United do really well to work a crossing opportunity down the left, but Greenwood, who used to captain the Reds, does really well to steer a header behind for a corner.

Ellie Roebuck comes for it but isn't anywhere near yet. Fortunately for her City are able to clear.

Lauren Hemp was just furiously rubbing her legs before this half started. It is freezing this afternoon so she's obviously just trying to get the blood pumping.

    Magic rub, maybe?

  12. Postpublished at 48 mins

    Man City 0-1 Man Utd

Bunny Shaw is having a really frustrating day leading the line for Manchester City.

She does really well to get in front of Maya Le Tissier to gather a long ball, but then the referee blows up for handball as Le Tiissier bites back.

    Shaw looks frustrated.

Marc Skinner's reaction to the goal was a bit of relief. I felt like Manchester United were coming back into the game beforehand. It was a fantastic finish.

Interestingly, Man United really struggled down that left-hand side in the first 20 minutes - and then they managed to find their rhythm.

  16. 'Galton's goal a fantastic finish'published at 13:34 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2022

HT: Man City 0-1 Man Utd

    Fara Williams
Former England midfielder on BBC One

Leah Galton and Hannah Blundell have had a really good connection down the left.

Galton's touch and movement before the goal takes two players out of the game and she continues her run into the box once she plays it to Toone on the outside.

She then just softens her touch and gets her strike away - it's a fantastic finish.

Here's the team news from Tottenham v West Ham...

  19. Galton for England?published at 13:30 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2022

HT: Man City 0-1 Man Utd

    Siobhan Chamberlain
Ex-England and Man Utd goalkeeper on BBC 5 Live Sports Extra

Leah Galton definitely has the talent [to play for England].

You've seen today with the performance she's put in, you look at the stats, how many goals she's scored in her time in the WSL.

She's a brilliant player, she brings other players into play, she'll create assists, she'll score goals, she's physical, she's strong, she's robust and that's what you need at international level.

But it's up to her whether she wants to take that step up - sometimes it's a step too far for players who would rather stay in the zone they are comfortable in.

  20. 'United broke City's press'published at 13:28 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2022

HT: Man City 0-1 Man Utd

    Fara Williams
Former England midfielder on BBC One

United really struggled to get into the game with City's high press in the opening 20 minutes.

Once they broke that, they controlled the second part of the half really well.
