GOAL - Southampton 0-3 Newcastlepublished at 15:23 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

    Joe Willock

    Game, set and match!

This is just ruthless. Kieran Trippier does superbly to anticipate a cross-field pass and intercept. His next act is to thread a pass through the Saints defence for Joe Willock to latch on to and finish low via a toe-poke finish.

    Southampton 0-2 Newcastle

It's going to be a familiar tale for Ralph Hasenhuttl and Southampton if they can't get back into this. You miss big chances like they have and you're always going to be there to be picked off.

Drama. Cristiano Ronaldo and Tyrone Mings are tussling inside the Villa box. And now VAR are having a good look at this.

They're checking for a possible red card for violent conduct.

James Stevenson: Shame England can’t take Miguel Almiron to the World Cup really. Sort of player that is in such good form they deserve to be playing on the biggest stage. Unfortunately Paraguay didn’t qualify.

You just hope that it's not an injury with Callum Wilson because I feel that it would be the only thing stopping him from going to the world cup. I feel that everyone is talking about him, he scores goals and he's a threat.

Cristiano Ronaldo gives a clap of encouragement to Marcus Rashford after the forward's poor touch means he is unable to keep the ball in play.

It is fair to say Ronaldo's first time as captain under Erik ten Hag hasn't quite gone as hoped but he isn't alone in having an off day - the whole Manchester United team just hasn't been at it, although a large part of that is down to Aston Villa's brilliant display.

  9. goal

GOAL - Southampton 0-2 Newcastlepublished at 15:19 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

    Chris Wood

    Sucker punch!

They have been under the cosh for much of the half but from practically their first attack since the break, Newcastle double their lead.

The ball is worked wide right and then fed into Chris Wood in the box. He holds of his marker, turns and fires a shot into the bottom corner.

    Brilliant centre-forward play.

    Southampton 0-1 Newcastle

Newcastle were so confident in the first half but they are wobbling now.

Their fans are much quieter and the Saints fans are in the ascendancy.

It's also now bucketing it down with rain.

Tyrone Mings is carrying on for now as Jan Bednarek warms up on the sidelines.

Nothing is going right for United. A huge roar goes up as they lose possession deep inside Villa's half.

    Southampton 0-1 Newcastle

    Oh, big miss!

Saints spurn another as Newcastle gift Theo Walcott a run at their defence with a loose pass. The ball is shifted right and then chipped to Che Adams in acres of space in the box.

The striker opts for the volley and fires it wide.

The story of Saints' game so far, perhaps their season.

    West Ham 1-1 Crystal Palace

    Palace are going for this.

Eberechi Eze could have had a hat-trick and he again goes close after a clever bit of skill on the edge of the box.

Moments later Michael Olise digs out a shot from outside the box and it falls just wide.

    Southampton 0-1 Newcastle

Southampton are very much on the front foot here.

They need to find a cutting edge, though. They have just 11 goals to their name this league season and while they're getting in good positions they're not hurting Newcastle enough.

  16. Postpublished at 15:13 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

    Southampton 0-1 Newcastle

Saints really have the bit between their teeth this half.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles squeezes between two challenges on the right but his low ball is straight at Nick Pope.

Aston Villa 3 -1 Man Utd

    Clinton Morrison
Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Man Utd are wide open, full backs pushing too high and Lindelof isn't quick enough to be dealing with Ollie Watkins. Once Ollie Watkins squares up Lindelof he's got no chance. Great play from Watkins and once Ramsey gets in there with his third man run it's a brilliant finish.

  18. Ramsey's redemptionpublished at 15:12 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

    Aston Villa 3-1 Man Utd

    Gary Rose
    BBC Sport at Villa Park

    Redemption for Jacob Ramsey!

The Manchester United goal just before the break that deflected off his back went down as his own goal but that is the perfect response as he restores Aston Villa's two-goal lead.

Whatever Unai Emery said at half time it has done the business and Villa Park is bouncing again.

What has Unai Emery done to these Villa players?

They were trounced at Newcastle last week. They're all over Manchester United this week.

    Southampton 0-1 Newcastle

    Southampton have come out swinging.

They have win a free-kick near the byline and on the edge of the Newcastle box for handball. They set up Romain Perraud for a hit but his shot is blocked.

Soon after, Mohamed Elyounoussi fires tamely over from range.
