  1. Aubameyang 'will be determined' against former club Arsenalpublished at 11:35 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

    Chelsea v Arsenal (12:00 GMT)

Chelsea boss Graham Potter said Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is excited to face Arsenal on Sunday, but doesn't feel the striker has a point to prove against his former club.

Sunday will see Aubameyang face Mikel Arteta's side for the first time since he left the club in February.

Potter said: "It's a London derby. It's two good teams, I think. Arsenal are doing really well.

"Obviously, history makes it interesting for Auba, but the past is the past as far as we are concerned. We are looking forward to the game and playing well.

"I don't think we should make it about him. It's about the team and he is an important part of the team for us to get the result we want. It takes everybody, not just one person.

"I understand the headlines interest is around him because it's Arsenal and there is a narrative around that. That's fine, but there is nothing we can do about that. As a team and as a group we have to play well ourselves.

"I don't think [Aubameyang has a point to prove]. He's looking forward to the game, excited for it. He's been pretty normal from what I've seen. He's a quiet guy, but come matchday he will be determined."

Claus Vistesen: I realise Chelsea are beset with injuries but Potter is making the erstwhile tinkerer Ranieri look conservative with the way he is setting up this team. The Pick'n'Mix manager!

Sam: If Potter makes the mistake he made against Man U the game will be finished by half time. We are facing a red hot Arsenal.

  3. Sutton's predictionpublished at 11:31 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

    Chelsea v Arsenal (12:00 GMT)

This week Chris Sutton takes on filmmakers Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson in the latest round of Premier League predictions.

    Chris SuttonImage source, .

    Sutton's prediction:1-1

Arsenal have won at Stamford Bridge in each of the past two seasons but I am not convinced they will make it three in a row.

A lot depends on whether Bukayo Saka is fit for the Gunners and how Chelsea boss Graham Potter approaches the game - like one of his predecessors, Claudio Ranieri, he has been a bit of a 'Tinkerman' with his team and tactics recently.

Overall Potter has done well though, and I don't think his side will be as bad again at the back as they were against Brighton last time out.

    Moorhead's prediction:2-1

    Benson's prediction:2-1

Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Moura will be assessed, while Cristian Romero and Richarlison remain unavailable.

Liverpool are missing James Milner, who is observing concussion protocol after being forced off against Napoli.

Midfielder Jordan Henderson missed that game with a minor issue but is back in contention.

Lucas Paqueta has returned to training after a collarbone injury and could make his comeback for West Ham on Sunday.

Lukasz Fabianski is expected to be fit despite despite being substituted because of a knee problem last weekend.

Crystal Palace pair Odsonne Edouard and Cheick Doucoure trained on Friday afternoon.

Both will be assessed on Saturday before a decision is made on their involvement in this game.

Southampton defender Armel Bella-Kotchap is available after recovering from a hamstring injury.

Romeo Lavia could also be fit but Kyle Walker-Peters will not return before the World Cup.

His place could be taken by Allan Saint-Maximin, who made his comeback from a hamstring injury as a substitute against Villa last Saturday.

Aston Villa v Man Utd (14:00 GMT)

There are no fresh fitness doubts ahead of Unai Emery's first game in charge.

Bruno Fernandes is suspended for Manchester United as a result of accumulating five yellow cards.

Victor Lindelof returned from illness to face Real Sociedad on Thursday, when Aaron Wan-Bissaka was back in the squad following a lengthy injury.

It is the start of a new era for Aston Villa as they welcome new boss Unai Emery at Villa Park today.

In some - and some may call this very tenuous - ways, Emery first laid the groundwork for this job four years ago, when he became Arsenal boss.

Back then he watched the Birmingham-based drama Peaky Blinders to learn English, and the Spaniard has revisited the series to prepare for his latest role in England.

"It’s so difficult (the accent)," he said. "But I am ambitious as well and prefer to watch the difficult series with the language to improve it and really I think I can understand better the Birmingham history with these movies."

I'm tempted to try and get close to the dugout this afternoon to see if I can catch Emery doing his best Thomas Shelby impression...

Unai Emery's dream as Aston Villa boss to win a trophy

Unai Emery says he has two dreams at Aston Villa - but to begin with he is only concentrating on facing Manchester United on Sunday.

The former Arsenal and Villarreal boss met the media for the first time on Friday since being appointed and outlined what he wanted to achieve at Villa Park.

"My dream is to win a trophy with Aston Villa," Emery said. "It's my personal challenge at the beginning.

"My second dream, my objective, will be to play in Europe."

Emery has an exceptional record in European football having won four Europa Leagues with Sevilla and Villarreal, although he could not be tempted to speculate on Villa's prospects of qualifying for next season's competition.

Instead, with his new side currently 16th in the table, he preferred to focus on turning their form around.

"We have to start with the next match, because we are not in a good position," he said. "Each match gives us a lot of information about the players.

"I want to test them individually and collectively, starting from the beginning, on Sunday against Manchester United."

Earlier, the club also confirmed the appointments of Pako Ayestaran as assistant head coach, Pablo Villanueva as first-team coach, Francisco Javier Garcia as goalkeeping coach, Antonio Rodriguez Saravia as individual performance coach, Victor Manuel Manas as data and video analyst and Moises de Hoyo as strength and conditioning coach.

  10. 'The most important moment since promotion' - Purslow on Emerypublished at 11:13 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

Aston Villa chief executive Christian Purslow says he is "proud and delighted" to have installed Unai Emery as the club's new head coach.

Purslow introduced Emery to the media on Friday and highlighted the 51-year-old's record as the reason for his appointment.

"His track record speaks for itself," said Purslow. "His arrival is perhaps the most important moment and most important step since our promotion from the Championship.

"Unai will have the personal support of the owners in driving forward our first team and also continue the crucial work of bringing young talent through from our academy, which we all believe is so fundamental to our long-term success and stability."

Asked specifically about Emery's managerial career, Purslow described him simply as "a serial winner of trophies at hugely important clubs in European football".

It has been 26 years since Villa last won silverware - the League Cup in 1996 - and 11 years since they last played in Europe.

  11. The Emery era beginspublished at 11:10 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

This is a big day for Aston Villa, with Unai Emery getting his work properly under way as boss.

With Steven Gerrard now part of the past, the Spanish former Arsenal gaffer must find a way to start steering Villa away from the danger zone at the bottom of the Premier League.

He begins with a visit from Manchester United.

Arsenal back to full strength now with Zinchenko's return?

They have players knocking hard on the door too, like Kieran Tierney and Reiss Nelson.

Chelsea are still struggling with injuries but that remains a strong-looking Blues XI. Lots of talent and experience at the highest level.

I just hope this game delivers what it promises.

  15. Lots to look forward to...published at 10:57 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

To be fair, all of today's games have a bit about them.

Clearly, Chelsea v Arsenal has a lot going for it. But after that we've got Unai Emery's first game in charge of Aston Villa as they host an in-form Manchester United, top-four gate crashers and (according to Pep Guardiola) title-challengers Newcastle at struggling Southampton and West Ham - fresh from bossing it in Europe with the kids - taking on Palace.

To finish off, it's only third-place Tottenham, who pulled a rabbit out of the hat in the Champions League this week, against a Liverpool team in dire need of a win.

So yeah, put your feet up and let the football throw some drama at your eyes and ears.

Thankfully, the game at Stamford Bridge is one we can just purely focus on the action at hand. There's no extra needle, no added spite or hatred. There's absolutely no history or rivalry at all between the two sides. Oh hang... no, there is. There's quite a lot of all of that stuff I've just mentioned.

Here's a little visual reminder of some recent memorable moments...

Erling Haaland's late penalty for 10-man Manchester City against Fulham has an awful lot of resonance for our first game today.

It means that the champions start Sunday as the Premier League leaders. They might not end the day that way, though.

Arsenal can usurp them once again in the on-going 'to me, to you' the pair are having at the summit of the division this season.

Things would have been a bit less pressurised if former Gunners keeper Bernd Leno had just got a tiny fraction more glove on Haaland's spot-kick. Instead, the red side from north London must now go and get a win at Chelsea if they want to be number one again.

No pressure Sunday, but you've got a pretty exciting day to try and match here.

Yesterday's Premier League fixtures may not have looked all that exciting on paper, but boy did they deliver out on the pitch.

Twenty one goals, a couple of red cards, the four at 3pm all settled in the last 10 minutes, a 3-2, a 4-3 comeback from 3-1 down and a side snatching top spot right at the death.

Talk about providing a bang on Bonfire Night.
